With Petra, she may be on a roll and win the trophy (small chance) or she may give us that appearance and suddenly hit the self-destruct button.

I say she finds button this time.

Pennetta in 3 with a scoreline of 6-[0/1], [0/1]-6, 6-[0/1].

This type of scoreline is typical of Kvitov's matches. In fact, more than who wins the match, I have more confidence in my prediction of scoreline.

Well she found the button GSM!

No. It wasn't about buttons. She just wasn't physically fit. In the previous matches she was exhausted but still she was able to persuade her body to surmount it. Adrenaline can do wonders but it doesn't work forever. Since the beginning of the match I was sure she would lose and it's a mark of her exceptionl will the score was not lopsided. :clap

Yeah, there was no mental collapse of that kind from Kvitova today. As she has said in her post match interviews, she was feeling tired before the match. She won New Haven and made it to the US Open quarterfinals for the first time ever. Got to say that was a pretty good hard court run considering how she is getting over Mono. A Halep-Kvitova semi would have been very interesting but I guess we'll have to wait until next time.

I did not get to watch the match and so I don't know whether "button" was the issue. From the scoreline, I thought she just lost and it is not the pressing of button. But, then I heard that she made 60 UFE and lost 11 of last 14 games or something close to that. That sounds like a "button" issue.

She was up a set and 3-1 in the 2nd but just ran out of gas. The UFEs probably came from pressing and trying too hard to end the points quicker. Considering her condition, it couldn't be helped maybe. She wasn't going to outlast Pennetta so she had to go for it.
