Perhaps it's too soon for this but I am in dire need of some action on the forum!

2014 is officially over including the Fed Cup.

What are your predictions for 2015? They can be specific or vague.

What are your hopes for certain players in 2015?

I want Serena to continue to rack up slam titles. But I also want Venus, Halep, Caro, Petkovic and Petra to do really well. Also want to see Vika back in the mix and rise in the rankings. If she can get into form, the top players are going to be praying not to draw her early in a tourney.

And I am hoping for Serena and Pova to meet many times!

First and foremost I wish all players in 2015 to be able to play their best tennis and stay fit and healthy.

In regards to my favorite player Serena,I believe if she can remain fit and healthy, she will be the benchmark of the WTA.I also feel Serena playing the Hopman Cup as preparation for the Australian Open is a wise move and hopefully Serena will do well at the AO in 2015.

Another player I feel will be under some pressure in 2015 is Simona Halep, can she consolidate her ranking and can she win her maiden Grand Slam title in 2015.Another important factor is that Halep will have a new coach in 2015.

I also hope that Victoria Azarenka can improve her ranking in 2015.2014 was a horrid year for Azarenka with ongoing injury woes.Azarenka always plays well at the AO,it is a surface that suits her game, winning 2 GS titles.

Well, I know Serena will be motivated, but sometimes motivation is not enough to get that slam. I hope she takes her 2014 year despite how many would kill for that type of year and use it as motivation to win at least 2 slams next year. I know Wimbledon will be on her radar as she has wanted that one so bad after her so so 2 years there. She is going to have some tough competition with Petra finding her way back slowly into the mix of things. Caroline coming into her own again. Vika will be the big question mark next year as to how she returns. I hope she doesn't play doubles in AO unless it is mixed.

I feel the same way about doubles at AO. I think she will be gunning for AO singles because it has eluded her recently. And, if she can get it, it should make her hungry and feel grabbing the other slams more possible for 2015

I really hope to see Serena win 2. I think that's what she needs to do to keep the hope alive of at least tying Steffi's GS record.

I would love to see Azarenka win at least 1 slam and basically get back to the place she was a year and a half ago. Im not quite sure when that will happen but I think her attitude is really good right now. She doesn't seem to be getting too down on herself. Those 2012-2013 seasons seeing Azarenka play Serena was some of the most compelling WTA tennis I've seen in years. I want that back.

I think it would be really nice to see Halep win a slam and win more big tournaments. She was super consistent last year but she didn't even win any premier mandatories. For me 2013 was her coming out party. Now it's time for her to show she isn't another Safina/Jankovic.

I am rooting for Kvitova to ride her swing of confidence and solid play into 2014. There's a lot of people who said her 2011 was a fluke. She proved them wrong and I hope she continues to do so.

Petra hasn't really proven anyone wrong. Her 2014 was nearly identical to her 2011. Won Wimbledon flaked out during the summer and had a decent fall. She has a bit of a ways to go before I put my stock fully behind her.

As for hardware:

Australian Open 2015: Serena Williams
French Open 2015: Simona Halep (unless she feels pressure to perform up to her final showing from 2014 then probably Maria again unless Serena gets motivated)
Wimbledon 2015: Serena Williams (she wants it, but that might be what keeps her from holding the trophy again thinking about it too much)
US Open 2015:Either Serena Williams or Caroline Wozniacki (Serena going for the 4peat is gonna be tough, but she has owned this slam for the past few year making it to the semis or better for the past 7 years.

As Caro continues to improve and add variety to her game, I hope to see her win a 1000 tournament and/or a Major in 2015

Just want all of them to be healthy and for Caro to win a major this year. Have a feeling she will win the French this year.

I don't think she will win the French. Clay has never been her surface. I think if she wins one it will be one of the hard court majors.

Well then let me see - predictions:

Caroline wins her first slam and she'll be back in top 3
Caroline wins over Serena at least once.
Serena still #1 but the last year she'll be that.
Serena playing doubles with Caroline at least once
Vika has a tough comeback to top 20
Venus is stopping by the end of the year in singles.
Genie slips out of top 10 together with Kerber
Aga barely stays in top 10.
Petra wins Wimbledon.

Well it's only predictions so don't bury me alive ;)

I think they're all within the realm of possibility, and some are quite interesting.

I'm particularly intrigued with the idea of Serena and Caroline playing doubles. Do you know if they've ever discussed it? It's unclear how much longer Venus will be able to participate, so Caroline could be the perfect new partner for Serena.

^ Caroline isnt really known for her doubles expertise though?

True, but I think it could be good for her to give her a different perspective on the game, vs. thinking predominantly in terms of being a baseliner.

If they did I think it would just be for fun. I would guess a big premier mandatory with not a terribly big draw. Didn't Roger and Nadal do this a few times?

No, they've never played doubles. Rafa and Novak did once a few years ago.

I have seen it in a couple of articles like:

http://www.realtytoday.com/articles/6984/20141104/serena-williams-caroline-wozniacki-tennis-rumors-wta-singles-women-s-singles-women-s-doubles.htm

and a similar one:

http://www.travelerstoday.com/articles/13715/20141103/serena-williams-caroline-wozniacki-tennis-rumors-wta-women-s-singles-doubles-venus-williams-serena-boyfriend.htm

And if you remember Caroline has actually played doubles with Venus for a couple of tournaments so I don't think the thoughts are too far away from reality:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/07/sports/tennis/serena-williams-faces-caroline-wozniacki-in-us-open-womens-final.html?_r=0

Exciting isn't it - we'll see:cool:

I think the big thing for Serena is to set the tone early and either win big in Australia or at the French because once she gets a major out of the way she should be good to go. Ending the year the way she did was a good message to send to everyone.

^ I think it is a wise decision for Serena to use the Hopman Cup as a warm up preparation for the Australian Open in 2015.BTW regarding the Brisbane International,no player who has won the title there in the WTA has gone on to win the Australian Open.
