I don't think Serena is coming this far without the title. As we saw from Lucie the nerves are there, and Serena isn't having any of it. This may be her most difficult road to a slam ever.

They just interviewed her on ESPN. She said since the 3R she's been dealing w/ the flu and that today was the worst she's felt all week.

Yes, I too heard that. Now, we know why she had so many three setters since 3rd round.

But, I was lot more nervous today than in the other three 3 setters of Serena (as I did not realize Serena was sick in the other matches, whereas I realized today).

I'll go with Serena in three. She'll drop the first, but come back strong and take the last two sets. That seems to be the pattern this year. Errani doesn't count.
Good call Kirijax! You hit the nail on the head.:clap

Morning to everyone on the wrong side of the planet! After only two hours of sleep the night before (watched Djokovic and Murray matches) and with the two of them squaring off tonight, there was no way I could stay up and watch the women's semifinals. Thanks for all the comments as the match went on. Sounds like Serena really is suffering from that nasty flu bug. Glad to see she fought through. Just as I predicted! ;) Will have to watch the highlights later.

I really like Bacsinszky this is what she had to say when a reporter was trying to bait her:

Asked by a French reporter whether she thought Williams was really that sick or also being somewhat theatrical to mess with her head, Bacsinszky said she didn't think Williams was putting on an act. And that the officials obviously didn't think so, either, otherwise they would have said something about the time she was taking between points.

"Whether this be theatrical or not, it's part of the game,'' she said. "The rules are clear. The one who wins is the one who wins the very last point.''

now they are blaming Serena for being sick....I have noticed the players are challenging a lot of Serena s shots after that Zenka incident or its a ploy to disrupt her.Sloane was challenging a lot and now Timea..
I noticed that Nouni had problems with players challenging..like Petra and Wawrinka and then Bernades..
I think there is a trend here...
thank goodness we are moving to Wimbledon where there is hawkeye so these silly challenges will stop..

Timea wasn't blaming Serena for anything. She actually was deflecting a lot of the reporters trying to cast blame and suggest Serena was faking or being dramatic. Well if it is questionable then you challenge. It is every player's right to question. Now whether it will help is another thing. Also, Serena has learned very quickly not to let calls or lack there of not to get to her, and I think every player is aware of short of it being an egregious error that goes against her Serena isn't getting rattled.

lots of angry people after this Serena win even lower ranked players are calling the drama from yesterday as gamesmanship..and also Virginia Wade called out Serena.
when pova is sick these people are quick to defend her and talk about a shoulder that is healed.Serena nearly died and lost a piece of her lung and these people still blame her for Timea loss..
I hope Serena plays her heart out tomorrow and win this thing..
I remember when Lucy played Venus at RG..if looks would kill Safarova was giving Venus the evil eye so much so that it was the talk of the day.The match was suspended and then Venus won...Latisha was there cheering really hard for Venus and it seemed like she was the only one cheering.
Safarova seems to have lightened up but that match freaked me out...Lucie did have that evill eye.
