fedster had good run to qf..another major qf, improved rank points from 2014 4thrd.

stan too good today, brought his ao2014 level to the party.

Yep, when I first saw the draw I was thinking it was great since Stan is fairly inconsistent and might not even make the QF and if he does then maybe he will stink the place up. Turns out we should've been hoping for Ferrer or even Kei instead. Onto faster courts for Roger...

One nice positive from the outcome is that we will see someone other than two of the big four in the final.

The ump messed up again. The point during the TB should have been replayed. He did the exact opposite of what he did during the Serena vs Vika match. Today, a replay would not have made any difference. Wawrinka was too good. I see him making the final where he can be competitive (against Djoke, I hope)

Please comment in my thread "How do I get a suggestion to the tennis ruling body?"

I was expecting a win by Roger because I haven't seen Wawrinka playing too well but things can change anytime. I haven't watched the match but I supose that he has played well today

He played awesome. It's also worth pointing out that the conditions were perfect for him

I thought that if Stan made the quarters he would be dangerous, and I am glad to see I am right. He is my pick to make the final now, even though I would get more points for either Tsonga or Kei.

Yes me too. And to be honest, of the available options for a decent final Novak vs Stan is by far the best

Thanks ESPN for your undying devotion to Tennis, you are the GrandSlam Channel.:clap

seriously f-ing hate espn. world leader in sports my ass. all they care about is nfl and nba. and the rare show of golf. they dont even give nhl attention ughhhh pisses me off

When the FO started there was a headline on ESPN.com saying that Federer was seeking his second Grand Slam. They were only off by 16.

As a Novak fan, it's the last thing I want to see, but if I can step back, it would produce probably the best tennis and the most competitive final.

The one that wants to break the barricade of the big 4 is older than the 3 of them lol. Impressive stuff from Stanimal, if he could step it up a tad more, he would look like the AO'14 version of himself. Whoever gets to the final on the other side, is going to have his hands full.

Very impressive from Stan. This was like AO , beating Nole kind of performance, in tough conditions.

Memo to folks who already think the winner of Nole-Rafa quarter is the champ, do not take this Stan lightly. "This" being the key word. And of course HE has to beat Tsonga to get there too, so...

Only just home from work and hadn't checked the scores. Congrats to Stan. Had a feeling it may be a tough match today for Roger. On paper it was a good draw but these days he's just too easily overpowered by guys who hit and serve hard on clay. Grass season is coming up and his game is much more suited to putting away winners on faster surfaces these days so at least that's a positive for the old guy who must be feeling a tad depressed today. Me personally, I'd like to have seen him go further, sure, but he was hardly winning the tournament either so no big deal. Good luck to Stan for his next match.

Good morning to everyone on the wrong side of the planet! Just woke up from my Nyquil-induced slumber and thought I was seeing things when I checked scoreboard.com. Holy Cabooses! I'll have to watch the highlights later but wow. Never thought Stan would demolish Federer like that! I send my sincere condolences to Fed fans.

The windy conditions probably did Roger no favours. Level terms obviously as the wind is there for both guys but when Stan already has the ability to overpower Roger without strong wind, with it he's really fighting an uphill battle at this stage of his career with younger guys overpowering him on slow surfaces.

Roger's forehand might legitimately not be a top 3 ground stroke on tour at the moment, on many surfaces. Times are changing. It's the greatest shot in tennis history. Still weird seeing what it's been reduced to, even after all these years.
