RE: Fed Cup 2015: Early round!

Love the Fed Cup as much as the Davis Cup! Is it time for the Fed Cup already? Interesting that the Czech Republic and Italy will have to play in the semifinals this year. They've been going at it for the last few years.

The main bracket, the World Group, features four pairs of countries going head to head for spots in April semi finals.Russia against Poland, with Maria Sharapova,Agnieszka Radwanska in action.Though Sharapova dominates in the h2h 11-2,six of their career meetings have gone to three sets, including the most recent one,a marathon three set tussle in the round robin of the season ending PNP Paribas WTA Finals,Singapore, last October. This weekend they'll have their first 2015 in Radwanska's hometown of Krakow.

The other World Group ties see Italy take on France, the Czech Republic take on Canada and Germany take on Australia.

The parade of top players continues in the four World Group 11 ties, most notably the United States tie with Argentina, both Williams sisters,Serena and Venus are on the team and Madison Keys as well.

Another World Group11 is Romania vs Spain, with Simona Halep,9-1 on the year so far leading the Romanians,Garbine Muguriza heading up the Spanish team.

Keys is out with injury, replaced by Vandeweghe, also Townsend replacing the other non-Williams in the team.

I wish I cared about Fed Cup/Davis Cup.. I just can never seem to care. Tennis for me is an individual sport of individual athletes. I mean my favorite players are Serena (who does come from my home country) and Vika who comes from a country I am SURE I'll never visit!

Quite frankly I am a little perplexed that Bouchard isnt playing Fed Cup for Canada?
Seeing that Kvitova and Safarova arent playing.Canada may have had a chance of a upset.

Yep, but now it's almost 100% a Czech victory.

What a lethal bunch, poor Argentinians....

And so very, very tall !

They're all wearing heels, except for Coco (who looks as if she borrowed granny's shoes) :snicker

There is a crucial match coming between Simo and Mugu.
Romania is tied with Spain 1-1 after the first 2 rubbers.

That is the sentiment echoed in Canada and by Gaby Drabowski. Genie has opted to play in Europe, and with Alexsandra Wozniak also out due to injury the task is formidable for Canada.

Coco is playing in place of Serena. Although Serena won yesterday, it was clear that she is still suffering from whatever respiratory issues she had during the AO. The commentators had mentioned that Lepchenko was suffering in the hospital with pneumonia; Serena must take care that her issues do not worsen.

I blame Mary Jo for that. Serena in her condition had no business out there yesterday. MJ has Venus and Coco who should be able to get 3 singles win against this weak Argentine team. She could have always substituted Serena in today if necessary.
