Wow! That was awesome... Maria was almost clinical in her destruction of the Canadian. It's the best I've seen from her in a while. I like Bouchard a lot, but tonight it became painfully obvious that she's Maria-lite.

Masha keeps pounding Genie just like Petra did in Wimby, Genie simply has no answer, she seemed overwhelmed just like Wimby.
Genie needs to do something about this, stepping into the court will not do it against the big girls.

Maria showed Eugenie how far she has yet to go to win majors when players like sharapova are still around. This was big girl tennis laying the proverbial "smack down" on the anointed young superstar and heir apparent! Wow!

Maria played well and you have tip your cap to that. She had a game plan and she stuck to it. Genie didn't appear to have any game plan which resulted in being out of position most times and creating errors. I don't know if that's indicative of her coaching situation or not, but more was needed than her usual in the QF's of a slam against a former champion.

Too much power and skill from Maria, our Canadian needs to re-think her approach or develop more creativity to her game against that type of opposition. I am not surprised by the result.

Missed this one as well but not surprised by it at all. Maria playing very well this year. Already had her scare so she can have a few matches of dominance. Bouchard is indeed very good and probably does have a slam or many slams in her future, but she does seem to be coming back down to earth for now. I mean, this his her 4th qf out of the last 5 slams and she only lost in the 4th round at the US Open. But still, she's not on top of the world like she was going into the final of Wimbledon. Got trounced and maybe lost some confidence or just lost the "it" that she had there for a bit. I mean, I guess if she had "it" then she's good enough to have it and can get it back, but ..... oh who am I kidding. I just don't like her. I'm imposing some weird thoughts on it all because I just don't like her. I'm a Sloane fan when it comes to these young girls and I'm annoyed she's not lived up to expectation and that Bouchard is the one that rises to the occasion and has a better attitude. Thrilled to see her beaten rather easily by Maria. She does seem to have come back down to Earth. But her Earth is probably still better than 96% of the WTA (and that includes Sloane until she proves otherwise. Rough draw here, so she gets a pass, but she better get it together the rest of the year.)

Not a big fan of "Come On !"s after the opponents unforced errors. Happens a lot in women's tennis.:nono

Seen and heard it from the mens side many times also. Remember Hewitt? He fist-pumped and yelled "come on" after many of his opponent's errors. Trust me, he is not the only one on the ATP to do so.

Looks like Genie needed a shot of expresso during the match.

Bouchard is suffering from having the wrong coach all these years. She should know she can't outhit Pova but has been brainwashed by Saviano to think that she can. She made no adjustments. Similar to her performance in the Wimby final. Bouchard will not win a major until she figures this out. She would benefit from adding variety but I am not sure she is capable.
