yes, Just as ShawnbM stated yesterday.. the match vs Murray could have been a lot different if he was able to capitalize

We could say that about every match in history though by any player :D

I've seen some comments about what I posted above. It was my understanding that Nadal had multiple break pints in multiple games. It is true this could be said about many players in many matches. But, it remains true that having that many break point opportunities is a positive and shows the losing player was playing fairly well. If the score were like that with no break point chances at all, then that would be a more comprehensive defeat. Ine can't ignore Nadal had some chances to do damage. Yes, Roger has against Nadal in many matches, and the same holds true for others who lost matches.

Sheesh! Rafa beat Stan in straights? How does this bode for, er, when? Because there was a lot read into the Muzza match that bodes terrible for the next twelve months, apparently... :cover

This match means that SW goes out in round 1 at AO, Nadal in round 2. The same pattern holds till Roland Garros, when they both manage to advance one more round each.

Novak's withdrawal benefitted Rafa. This way, he got another chance to shake off some
rust in a match with no-stakes as opposed to a regular match.

It may be straight sets. But, the first set is a tie breaker. Also, the second set is won by a
single break of serve. Finally, this is an exo. It does not bode anything for Stan.

As I said before, my comment was more due to scoreline and not due to the fact that
Rafa lost in an exo.

too bad for the fans.. question does Novak return some of his millions of dollars appearance fee:nono

The sheikhs would have made sure that Novak does not get big bucks without playing in the
finals. Even though Murray would get the trophy, he would not get big bucks either. This being
exo, players get money for playing primarily.

Having said that, Rafa/Stan would not have got all the money they planned to spend on
the finals either. They would have spent half of the money in the Rafa/Stan match and the
remaining would have gone for compensating the fans.

Okay, so now that the scoreline is straights in favour of Rafa, this bodes better for him, right? I mean, you're not gonna analyse every exo score as if it tells you something, right?

I think there was more than a hint of wishful thinking in your post, tbh. Go on, you can admit it to me, I can keep a secret.... ;)

In an exo, a player might not go all out to win the match. However, even in an exo, no
player would be ok with being taken to the cleaners. So, any respectable scoreline of exo
does not say anything, independent of who won the match. However, if a player is beat
down in an exo, it surely says something about the player that got beat down.
