Good job GSM. I also said we would have a surprise finalist and a veteran in the pre-tournament thread.

Great form going into the final. I hope Serena keeps the nerves at a minimum and just goes out and dazzles us in the final.

Serena has long memory...

:laydownlaughing
::;):she does and will not forget a loss...remember when she lost to Caro in Miami and the Dane was bragging in the press room.Serena put her on the list and since then she refuses to lose to her bff..

By virtue of beating Markarova and reaching the final of the USO final,Serena Williams has become the first player to qualify for the BNS Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore.

a foot fault

So what else is new.

Don't get snippy because she refuses to back up off that line even a micro quintessa!

Like I said those foot faults are called on her intentionally to get a reaction from her. We all know what it's all about.

No they aren't, they are called because her foot is touching the line. Serena hasn't reacted badly to a foot fault since that incident, so they would be trying for nothing.

I'm glad someone here is thinking logically Sunday.

Since someone has been counting, one of the Bryan's just got called for a foot fault in the first set of the men's dubs final.

My observation is that it is mostly the men and Serena that get called for foot-faults. It would be nice if they would show a replay of said foot-faults to see if the line is being touched on the serve.

They do usually try to show where the foot fault is in replay. While I don't have another example of a woman being called on a FF, I find it hard to believe there aren't. One note: of all the folks mentioned above who FF'd, (Serena, Roddick, Safin, Bautista-Agut...who else?), all but B-A are notedly big servers. That could have something to do with it, and why you see fewer in the WTA.

Thank you, Sunday, for providing a realistic, logical approach to the topic.

And as kskate2 mentions, if players like Serena and Hewitt don't want to be called on foot faults anymore, then do something about it. Make a tiny adjustment to be certain it doesn't happen again.
