I will go with Serena on this one probably in 3. You always have to consider the intangibles and in this case Makarova has never been this far in a slam, and I am not sure she has the nerve to take this one from Serena.

I am currently #4 out of 4791 contestants in tennis.com's racquet bracket contest on women's side and according to the what if scenarios available, I am guaranteed one of the prizes (they award prizes to
top 5 finishes) as long as Wozniaci does not win the tournament (that is just 2 of the 8 possible theoretical scenarios).

However, something in me tells now that Wozniacki is going to win this tournament
denying me my prize; but, I would be happy for her.

^ You did predict a Serena v Woznicaki final before the tournament started,as did Steve Trignor from TW.Com.

Yes, that was my predicted final and I had Serena as the winner.

Remember, Serena hasn't lost in the semifinals of a slam since the 2003 French Open!

Come on Rena, stay focused and shake the nerves.

I could see Makarova making it competitive and perhaps taking a set over Serena.

However I think Serena has too much power and experience at this stage of a Grand Slam for Makarova

Serena in straight sets.

So the 2009 US Open never happened in which she lost.

The one thing I will say in Serena's favor is she has lost all of her slam finals in straight sets. So if Caroline is to win it she will have to do it in straights which I don't think she can do.

I think Calcy did not count that as Serena lost it in a different manner :snigger

I give a set to Makarova.
Makarova win over Serena was a fluke, remember Serena had just had an injury on her ankle in Brisbane and had tape on her leg and was struggling to serve in the hot sun...since then Serena has bageled her once.
Serena in 2 sets

Katerina has been playing doubles too, does that factor in at all? Serena in 3, but let's give credit to Makarova for a great US Open.

Opinion is split as to whether or not doubles is a factor, but it's a great question. No matter what, I agree with you -- credit to Makarova for having an awesome US Open.
