I don't think Serena has any threat to her number 1 ranking really at this point. I mean if there was a threat to it would be Halep, and she would have to be amazing for the rest of the year, and Serena would have to fall off badly.

Serena is usually great in Beijing and at the YEC, so I am not worried. I know she added Wuhan to her schedule, so that will be some added points.

I am not saying Halep beating Serena. I am saying Halep is someone who could catch her at number 1. Serena defends in Beijing and YEC which she excels at and she added Wuhan to her schedule. I am just saying if Halep does well from here theoretically she might be able to catch Serena and overtake her. Halep doesn't have much to defend, and she will add a lot of points if she does well in YEC. It is possible, but not necessarily guaranteed.

I got what you're saying. But in order for Halep to do well, she will need to beat Sharapova or Vika who will likely be there. And she has to do better than Serena to take #1, so that means beating Serena if they meet in the final.

The good news for Serena is she can only improve upon her results really in the first 3 majors. I am looking for her to make a statement at Wimbledon you can tell that left a really bad taste in her mouth. I am hoping she wants another French after her terrible showing there this year. I think if Vika can get going again that she will be tough on the hard courts. Serena also has the title lead in the WTA with 6 titles.
