Such a great set. Kei has two holds at love but has also been broken but only after he broke and had the opportunity to serve for the match. He's been so tough but he faltered there. Djokovic has been solid but was broken. Kei going for it. Djokovic just keeping the ball in play until he can find the opening for the winner. Of course, sometimes takes it from him while he's doing that. And sometimes Kei goes for it and misses it. It gets a tiebreak and Kei opens with some strong stuff. Djokovic pegs back but Kei is more consistent in the end which is just so surprising. So much back and forth. The best player in the world trying to keep his own demons at bay and a guy who is definitely playing better than him. One of the best sets of the tournament. If Kei loses from here, at least he'll have this set in his mind. I mean, it may make his wonder how he lost the match still, but it can also be a source of reminding himself that he can be truly great.
And are we surprised by this? If you are, you haven't been paying attention. What he did to Nadal on clay in Madrid before getting injured was nothing short of amazing. He beat Fed in IW somewhat easily. I don't know why it took Kei so long to get to this point when he showed so much promise from a young age. But I'm glad he's at least made it to this point.
