This was such a clown match. Entertaining, but so clownly. How Monfils managed to get bageled in the 5th set despite having all the momentum is beyond me.

You said it. He really 100% deserves the clown slaggings he gets. I mean, I expected him to lose this match eventhough he has all the ability to win it. Sure he had momentum going into set 5, but I still must admit I didn't think he'd win but at least have the decency to lose it 6-4 and not 6-0! Either way it's a loss and that sucks but for the sake of pride and his nation that last set was truly embarrassing. Only positive is his fitness was questionable coming into the tournament and yet he reached the quarter finals. Hopefully he'll be ok rest of the year.

Andy in the semi final. No doubt due to his 7th seed and not playing any top 10 players, but still, not bad for the 20th best clay courter in the world ;)

Boy was that post looking poor for a while. Good on Andy for closing it out though, and good on Gael for being Gael and proving why no one takes him seriously.

Wow. What an odd score. Just woke up to find Murray getting through. What happened to Monfils in the final set? Did Murray just step it up or what happened?

A Murray-Gulbis final please! ;)

3 big 4 players in the semis, as promised. ;)

So, you're Gael Monfils. You just came back from two sets to love to tie the score, in front of your home crowd, in a major quarter final. You're fired up, and have all the momentum in the world.

What do you do?

...0-6.

I can't understand that one bit.

Monfils is Monfils for a reason. Must be frustrating to be a French fan of tennis today.

I would never do such a thing! Feel free to rub in one of my predictions against me when I'm wrong. I deserve it anyway as I've been a real jerk about that as off late.

Me either and he lost practically every game that set to love except the last one! Embarrassing and pitiful for him, his nation and the sport in general. I mean, Murray had to do zero, I mean zero to win that last set.

Murray won. It's all I care about. :)

In a way I'm glad 'cos it makes for a much more entertaining semi. No matter how badly Nadal was playing I couldn't see Monfils challenging him much on clay.

What the hell, Monfils? Who battles back from two sets down to force a decider against one of the Big Four in front of his home crowd then plays like a blind 6 year old in the 5th?

Oh well, not complaining, Murray Nadal in the semi final. I have exams until half 3 French time so I'm really hoping they have Gulbis/Novak on first.

Nadal vs. Monfils would have been a massacre. That's a terrible match-up for Monfils on clay (and anywhere else really).

I'm glad it's Nadal vs. Murray and not just because I like Andy. It will be a true test to see if Nadal can raise his level and if he doesn't and loses, well then, that's fine because that means he wasn't going to beat Djokovic. But to win he'll have to produce his best tennis of the tournament, which is a good thing.

^ He can play awful and he will still beat Murray on clay IMO unless Andy has a monstrous day serving.

I don't think he has to play great. But he has too much respect for Murray and tends to try and step it up against him. Hence his best match of the tournament (which may not say much). I don't think he can beat Murray by being "awful" though. Not great, sure, but awful, I wouldn't think so. While this is clay, Murray tends to adopt the same strategy that he does elsewhere when playing Nadal, so that will at least make it interesting.

Murray wilted under the pressure at Rome but till he did he was ahead in the 3rd set till the very end. I don't think Nadal will win by playing awful. In fact it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Murray wins going by today.

Being best of 5 obviously makes it a lot harder but though I'm no fan of either guy, Murray is no clown even on clay as he's proven this week.
