Prediction. I think Novak wins tomorrow.

Honestly, I'm not liking his chances. Before today I would have said maybe 60/40 in his favor. Now I feel like it's 55/45 Fed.

I think the he wins ugly in three. I actually feel better about his chances after this match (crazy as that sounds!).

I'd give Fed a bigger edge. Moxie pm'd me about Pam saying Novak looked nervous, not out of focus. I completely agree. His confidence is at an ebb. He can't close out a match in two sets against a guy with a bum knee and loses the tiebreak. Ahead of Fed in Dubai and serving for the match and loses?? Yikes.

There it is! Much more confident finish from Novak. Great match from Isner, IMO. Look how excited Nole is!

This is the worst I have seen him serve.

At least he only returned the favour for the 2 US Open reverse scenarios by letting old Wodge win mickey mouse Dubai :p Wodge was more generous in his gunkfest two straight years at the slams!

I think this match will go down as an anti-classic.

What are the physical issues that John was having today (apart from sun glare)?
There must be some. His play today was not at all reminiscent of his usual play,
especially his serve.

Knee pain. He's had lingering knee issues and probably always will given his height. Didn't serve well at all by his standards though. Some days he could win with no legs.

That is true. With his A-serve, he might have won it. But many of his other shots were working, and he kept his head when he was down, and took some brave chances. Personally, I like seeing the variety. Plus, it should be remembered that he knew he was facing the best returner in the game, so his serve was heavily pressured.

^ True but he served WAY better in his 2012 win here against Novak.

God, what CHORE it was to watch this match..

Novak was so flat and mechanical.

This did not look like much fun for him.
