Stan in 4!

OK, I don't really believe that. I think Novak takes it in 4, but I wanted to vote for Stan because he's a Waldorf school graduate and I teach at a Waldorf school.

Last year was a classic match and Wawrinka showed hes got the game to push Nole at the USO too.

Stan will keep him honest but I don't think this will be as close. Nole in 3 or 4.

Nole looks to be in good form and won't be caught off guard by Stan unlike last year. It will go 4 at most.

Where did you see that good form of Nole's? In his inability to win rallies against Fognini in any other way but to wait for Fog's error after 20 some shots in the rally? Or in inability to convert break points unless Fognini commits double-fault?

I wish I look at the world through your glasses though.

I thought children from those schools are only allowed wooden toys so I wonder why Wawrinka is not playing with wooden rackets.

Another interesting thing about this match is this - If No1e wins it it will be his 29th consecutive win and that is equal to his childhood idol's longest streak. Not Nole's longest though.

Has someone hacked your account? I've never seen Mastoor talk bad about his boy even when he truly is playing like crap. Or some weird attempt at sarcasm?

People tend to overrate Stan's chances of causing trouble here. "Fool me once..." I don't think Nole will have his guard down and unlike the USO he isn't playing like crap.

I didn't even take wawrinka into consideration, I just see that No1e surprisingly came to this slam the way his new coach used to play them in his days - unprepared.

Why do you say that? He hasn't even come close to dropping a set through 4 rounds...

He didn't play against anyone who would expose any of his weaknesses and he was also good enough to abuse those guys shortcomings especially because he knows them very well.

However to win the slam and that means to beat the best opponents he needs to show much more than he did in first 4 rounds. Other than service he didn't bring any weapons to beat Fedal with.

Well I haven't seen all of his matches but he has looked fine to me. IMO it is the mental issues/up and down play that has cost him at slams the past couple years. He seems to be pretty steady so far and he is definitely the favorite to win this title.

From just a glance, I too can't understand what these people are talking about! You play down to the level of your opponent at times! When pushed, I'm sure Nole will crank it up; esp. against either Berdych or Wawrinka! :nono :puzzled  They ought to be more worried about the top of the draw where the real fights will be; hopefully! :clap :snigger

This is more how I see it too. He has played as good as he needed to.

I see your concern with Djokovic, but let's see how it goes the next match. There were a couple of very unnecessary UE's, but I've seen that too from Nadal. He's a champ, so hopefully he's ready when it counts. And the serve and net game is working well.

The AO streak is also ongoing: 27 or so?

Missed all the tennis since Weds but I'm glad I'm back in time to watch this. Potentially the match of the tournament. Only thing that I'm worried might happen is Stan's leg goes dead again. He had recurring leg issues in his biggest contests at the slams last year and was in contention in both matches till fitness became the decider. Hope it doesn't come down to that. I think Novak will take it in 4.

Excuse me, but you're trying to say Stan would have won those 2 major matches vs Nole if he hadn't had leg trouble? Didn't he take out Murray a couple days before at the USO? Was it ok then with all those screaming winners he was hitting? :nono :puzzled

Not at all, but I'm saying he would've had a better shot for sure if he didn't go lame. You could see towards the end of the match against Novak his movement was compromised and it definitely somewhat abruptedly ended both matches.

That IS funny, and we don't always get a laugh from Mastoor. I agree with what Darth said: sometimes the level of the opponent can affect level and concentration. Novak has been as sharp as he needed to be.

Djoker in 4. For Stan to win the match, he cannot allow it go to the 5th set. He needs to play like he did against murray at the US open and try to somehow finish in the first 4 sets.
