Gotta feel for Argentina. They don't have their big guns, and Nalbandian, who wants to play for it and win it so much, is unlikely to get his chance this year. Serbia should take Canada, too. Does Djokovic get another "Davis Cup Bump" from this run?
You read my optimistic Novak fan mind! I hope so. He and Nadal both seem to really take playing for country to heart unlike Fed and Andy. Not that those guys don't care, but it doesn't seem to be a priority.

Who did the Serbs play last time they won DC? This isn't a rematch, is it? Also, do we know who is hosting?

I do think Andy has been unfairly criticised when it comes to Davis Cup. Great Britain don't have 5-10 guys in the top 50-100. We have Andy. That is it. The player that occupies the British no.2 ranking is usually hovering around the 200 mark. How many other countries have ONE player in the top 200? On many occasions Andy turned up and won both his rubbers only to see us lose the tie. It's hard to win a tie when you're the only elite player. We ended up in the E&A zone II. Even in those ties we were still the favourites when Andy didn't play. We still lost. Andy felt the other players had to step up. The GB captain agreed and he said Andy could do more for British tennis by concentrating on his own career. I think he has done just that. Andy has done his bit for team GB over the years. This weekend he won both his singles matches and the doubles with Colin Fleming and we're back in the world group.
I think it's easier for other top players to prioritise Davis Cup when they have a team capable of winning. Would the other top players play in the zones 2 tiers below the elite group? Possibly, but I doubt very much they'd be making those ties a priority in their schedule.

To be fair, you guys have some capable doubles players. You only need three wins. But yes, he is hardly in the same position as nole and rafa, where there are strong #2 guys. Roger bother me much more, where they have the singles talent to be a real threat.

Congrats on Britain winning, Iona! They do have that young Evans, so that's a help.
I'm not sure what you're complaining about Andy getting a hard time, but that could be local. You're right to say that players like Novak and Rafa play DC with a real chance of winning. Roger has been very much criticized for not playing for Switzerland, except when he has to, to qualify for the Olympics. I think there is nothing wrong with top players focusing on themselves, to the knock-on benefit of local tennis.
BTW: After a few of you mentioned young Brona Coric, I just realized he won the boys' singles at the USO this year. Clearly he is someone to watch.
