Lawd have mercy SMH2.. What did I say to upset you? I am fair about both players and I just stated that Novak typically does not require a lot of on court prep.. If you dont think that you're a bit overly protective or Sinner.. please accept my apologies..
I will accept your apology I have never been over protective of any of my fav players and that includes Rafa, I was just stating how Jannik has been using slice and volleys since late last year, he is just not a strong base liner.
BTW your missing out on a good womens QF match Elina Svitilona v Elena Rybakina

Elina is serving for the match 5-4 she has reset her game from the 1st set and really dismantled Rybakina's game, though Rybakina has made too many UFE and has been her own worst enemy
Elina wins in 3 sets.

Goodness me the fireworks from a near by football game is now coming into Centrale court and it looks like a fog also upsetting hawkeye and it is confused lol! after a bad call the umpire asked for a replay
The match between Jodar and Darderi has been suspended it started late at 11pm due to long delays with rain earlier
BTW it is now officially a 'smoke delay'.
All Roads Lead From Rome lol! my friend texted me the sooner Rome is over the better she hates the clay court season,:)
Play has restarted TB for the 1st set
Good returning from Darderi on Jodar's serve and wins the 1st 76(5)
BTW Darderi was born in Argentina but he got an Italian passport because his grandfather was from Tuscany, one of my favorite places in Italy to visit, about 1 hours drive from Florence.
In the 2nd set where Darderi had plenty of chances to go up a double break, Jodar comes back saving 2 MPs and wins the 2nd set 75
Going 3
Almost 1.30am in Rome and a players taking a toilet break

A "smoke-delay?" I guess I can say I've seen it all now! I guess some soccer event went on nearby & in celebration, shot off a lot of fireworks! The smoke reminds me of a Chicago Bear Playoff game in 1988 against Philly Eagles! I think it was called "The Fog Bowl!" After Half-Time a seriously thick fog rolled off the Lake engulfing Soldiers' Fields! People watching on TV couldn't see much, but Bears got thru it winning 20-12! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face:

If you cared to read my post I explained that there is a major football event played near the court Centrale , the stadium holds over 100,000 fans, they also will be having fireworks on Saturday night, quite normal in Rome, of course you being American have no idea the popularity of football in Europe! Ignorant Is Bliss I Guess? LOL! it is Football by the way not Soccer :)

Darderi finally gets a break early in the 3rd set, though he has to consolidate, which at times like in the 2nd set, he had trouble doing

Darderi consolidates his early break and leads 3-0 still he needs to be careful with his service games in the 3rd set

Whoa Darderi gets another break and leads 4-0 is Jodar running out of gas, the night time conditions make it heavy, and the balls are also heavy, I must say Dasderi has heaps of energy lets see if he can consoldiate

Darderi Forza leading 5-0
This reminds me of the 3rd set against The Whinger and Excuse Merchant Zverev when he gave him a bagel
Difference being Jodar is no excuse maker or whinger, seems like a grounded young man with heaps of talent

One thing I didn't have on my tennis bingo card this year is that a guy younger than Fonseca who have a better year than Fonseca. And yes, thus far. I am not saying that Fonzie doesn't have a better upside than Jodar (nor that he does), but as of right now, Jodar is the better player....he's at #14 in the Race rankings compared to #42 for Fonseca.

Fun fact: There are three Italians in the Race top 10 right now: Sinner at #1, Cobolli at #8, Darderi at #10. Musetti is 4th at #24.

2021 Jannik Sinner vs. 2026 Rafael Jodar

Through Rome:

'21 Sinner: 20-9 (1 title)
'26 Jodar: 20-9 (1 title)

Sinner played another warm-up tournament after Rome, and entered the French Open with a 21-10 record. I wonder if Jodar will enter one of the 250s before the FO.

Sinner finished 2021 with a 49-22 record, 4 titles, and a #10 ranking.

Jodar is already seeded for RG no point playing any tournaments before RG he ran out of gas in the 3rd set against Darderi
He has done enough miles in his legs for RG the 19 yo now needs a rest

Jodar definitely making a splash. Hopefully the LeoAI tool I use for the video transcript summaries will know who he is by the time we get to Roland Garros.
