I’m happy for Embiid. Definitely the biggest win of his career so far and after all the injuries and abuse from the C’s it’s got to feel nice!

Confidence does weird things. Knicks are favorites but Philly could be dangerous for sure. I’m good with either winning and winner of that series makes the finals IMO.

Philly better remember the 138-89 shallacking they got from New York...That should be enough motivation.

do we need to revisit the whole Embiid vs Jokic thing. I was surprised at these numbers...

Head to head matchup is one thing, but Embiid hasn’t even made it out of the 2nd round before in the much weaker conference.

that's true. For me it was never even an argument. But when you consider the random injuries he's had in the playoffs, it does add some context. I'm not about to say that Embiid is the better player, but I have to confess... this has made me understand it's not as clear cut as I thought given the numbers. But! But... as we both know.. I'm a championship over numbers guy, so I'm going to remain consistent :D

When the Celtics cut the lead down to one possession, wouldn’t it been prudent to move to a midrange game like Massey did late in the game. I think Joe Mozilla is a good coach but not a great coach.. for all his young players development issues Steve Kerr would have won that game by the Celtics especially when Embiid was jacking up 3s attempts while failing out of bounds. I think Philly has a chance to get passed the Knicks and the rest of the eastern pretenders but not a real threat to OKC in the finals

I know Embiid has had his share of injuries, but I think a few of those years he was healthy and still badly underperformed in the playoffs, like the year they lost to the Hawks and 1 or 2 of the years they lost to the Celtics.

I’m an everything guy, particularly playoff performance…and Jokic even with the really bad losses to the Wolves has still been a lot better than Embiid.

I was just following the score last night but didn’t see any of the action. My eyes were still recovering from seeing the Rockets and the missus was binge watching yet another Chinese drama show…yeah I know you’re jealous of my life right now :)

Mazzulla seems like an elite coach as that team overperformed all year given everyone they lost, and even though I believe Tatum is overrated, he’s still clearly a superstar and he only played about 20 games, if that. A 3-1 collapse will always leave a bad taste, but on paper the 76ers with Embiid “should” beat Boston as Embiid is the best player on either team and the 76ers overall have the more talented roster.

a fit Embiid is battling with Giannis for the title of best player in the East. When you look at that 76ers squad on paper they're the best team in the East. Given my Warriors aren't doing anything. Out of sheer competitive spite I'm happy for either the 76ers or Spurs to win it all. Already pleased to see the Celtics, Nuggets, Rockets gone. I'm getting ready to see the Lakers obliterated, but what I don't want to see is that flopper winning another regular season MVP followed by a FMVP. I can already see the narrative that will build. Ugh!

Which flopper? Joker or Bron? In today’s NBA you have to be more specific lol. I think Shai has the MVP locked up again this year and Bron isn’t winning an FMVP again, there’s no way they get past OKC.

SGA of course :D
Ah yeah, I should have realized since that is what is still very much in play. Just was thinking more the long game with Joker in the future or the craziness that would be king flopper Bron winning another Finals MVP this year.

It seems Doncic won’t be available for at least the first 2 games of the series. I’d say the firepower of Doncic, LeBron, and Reaves would give them a puncher’s chance but I don’t see them even having that with Luka out. I don’t think a team with as many bad defenders as LA has can compete with OKC, and I saw they lost all 4 games by an average of over 29 points in the regular season.

yes I can see full Lakers squad being able to hang with OKC offensively. I just don't see them being able to stop OKC much. The Rockets offence made the Lakers look like competent defenders. That might be the most egregious part of their rubbish performance

Also, I do have to give Boston props for sitting Tatum with their season on the line. We know there have been a lot of notable examples of teams rushing their star players back too early in the playoffs and then having them suffer major injuries as a result. So kudos to Boston for not doing that.

absolutely! But I think everyone learned from 2018 and KD. I couldn't believe Halliburton was allowed to risk it, but in a funny way it allowed them to tank this season.

If I were a Pistons fan, with 4 minutes to go, and the number of turnovers in the last 5 minutes I would be getting worried

that's better... stabilised now. For a few minutes it seemed like they were trying to steal defeat from the jaws of victory

I can guarantee that Harden will have more attempted assist than points scored today... He is not worth the dinero, not a leader not a game 7 closer
