Saw most of the final set. Rooting for Musetti, but I was actually impressed by de Minaur. From 5x3 onwards he was playing extremely well. But he fell in the old clay trap: got over-confident. If he manages to get one more deep run before RG, he will enter my top 4 list come Paris time.

Clay court season can be exhausting. Its funny how every year it seems some player has a good run up before Roland Garros and then fizzles out by the time the French Open starts and exits early.

Hope this doesnt happen to Miusetti or De Minaur. They both strike me as overachievers though Musetti seems more naturally gifted.

Even if I see your point, I get almost the opposite impression, specially with Musetti, but I do give maybe too much credence to (my definition of) talent.

With de Minaur the story is a little different, but I appreciate a lot the effort he's putting in. He is getting continuously better. Kudos to him.

Oh definitely “talent” is a loaded term.

I think Nikki Pilic once said he was tired of those being touted as more naturally gifted, I’m paraphrasing here : “Talent is also actually caring enough to work hard on something”
