The Tournament:

The Miami Open (also known as the Miami Masters, and currently branded as the Miami Open presented by Itaú for sponsorship reasons) is a tennis tournament held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. It is part of the men's ATP Tour Masters 1000 circuit, and part of the women's WTA 1000 circuit. The Miami Open is usually held between March and April.

The tournament had historically been held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, Florida from 1987 through 2018, before moving to Miami Gardens for 2019. Behind the Indian Wells Masters, it is the second event of the "Sunshine Double"—a series of two consecutive hard court tournaments in the United States at the beginning of the season. They are the only tournaments besides majors where main draw play extends beyond eight days.

About Miami:

Miami, officially the City of Miami, is a coastal metropolis and the seat of Miami-Dade County in South Florida. With a population of 442,241 as of the 2020 census, it is the second-most populous city in the state of Florida after Jacksonville. The Miami metropolitan area is the ninth-largest in the United States with a population of 6.138 million in 2020. The city has the third largest skyline in the U.S. with over 300 high-rises, 58 of which exceed 491 ft (150 m).

Miami is a major center and leader in finance, commerce, culture, arts, and international trade. Miami's metropolitan area is by far the largest urban economy in Florida, with a gross domestic product of $344.9 billion as of 2017. According to a 2018 UBS study of 77 world cities, Miami is the second richest city in the U.S. and the third richest globally in purchasing power. Miami is a majority-minority city with a Hispanic population of 310,472, or 70.2 percent of the city's population, as of 2020.

The Top Half of the draw will be played on Tuesday, includes Osaka v Q, and 2023 champion Petra Kvitova (WC) vs Kenin
Bottom Half of the draw will be played on Wednesday, Swaitek,Keys and Andreeva will play their openers.
I wonder if Andreeva should have taken a break? playing back to back WTA1000 events? I guess we shall see

I was sent a video of a young Canadian player, named Vicky Mboko, 18, who has been given a wild card into Miami. Vicky was a promising junior then a serious knee injury stalled her progress. Vicky has won 5 of the 6 ITF tournaments she has played so far this year, so it looks like she is back.Vicky will also play in the upcoming BJK Cup. A player to keep an eye on.Vicky has a strong serve, a varied game, good hands, likes to be aggressive, likes to dictate the court.

Projected QFs ( if the seedings hold),
Sabalenka (1) vs Rybakina (7)
Swaitek (2) vs Keys (5)
Gauff (3) vs Paolini (6)
Pegula (4) vs Navarro (8)

The seedings for Miami were based on the seedings at the start of IW

Both Naomi and P3tra need to follow the Bencic map. Drop down and play some challengers until you get your rhythm, timing and confidence back. Then use your PR to play the bigger events.

Osaka has been struggling of late, I know she has had her injury woes, abdominal, even before her recent injury, her game is not clicking,
I read after Miami, Petra and her coach will map out the rest of her schedule for 2025

It cannot be a momentum or confidence builder to lose in the R1 to a no name scrub and hit a zillion errors while doing it. Swallow that pride and go do the needful.

Osaka avoids what would've been a pretty disastrous 0-2 Sunshine Double, coming back from 2-4 down in the 2md set, to beat Q Starodubtseva 36 64 63
Osaka will face Samsonova next.

Kenin d Kvitova WC 64 75
Kvitova 0-3 since her comeback from maternity leave, though her level getting better this tournament, needs more match play, probably at a lower level to get back in shape.
Kenin plays Gauff next.

Breaking News,
Emma Raducanu has split from her coach of 14 days Vladimir Platenik, apparently they were on a 'trial'
Emma said she didnt feel she was on the right course with Platenik, and will continue to look for the 'right coach' ........Help Me whoever that may be! lol! that was Emma's 8th coach btw.
Emma is focused to do her best in Miami, as she won her first round match against a WC, she will play Emma Navarro next.

After losing the 2nd set 61, Bencic fights back to win in 3 sets over Yastremska 64 16 75
