He better figure it out while the opportunity presents itself because it doesn't look as if the 38 yr old is going anywhere anytime soon. Yannik has cracked the case, Chuck needs to follow suit. Outside of the ATP finals in 23, all the matches he's lost to Djoke were winnable and he had a brain cramp.
Exactly! He’s got a losing record against him, which is down to him not playing his best when he needed to in those matches..

I'm not going to count Djokovic out until he doesn't win the French Open or Wimbledon. Remember, Djokovic had a similar sluggish start in 2018. He then won Wimbledon, and just went on a tear for the next 6 months until AO 2019.

Tuning in to watch Fonseca v Fearnley, wind is coming directly across the court.
I have heard different opinions from players regarding the speed of the court, some say it is faster, Meddy said it was slower lol! Sabalenka says it is faster suits her more.Shelton said it is faster, and Zverev didnt know they had changed the surface at all :)
I think the court is still gritty and top spin is effective, the court speed is still the same to me, who ever handles the wind in IW is usually the winner in matches.
Fonseca played within himself in the 1st set, not making many errors, handled the windy conditions well, broke Ferarnley in the opening service game, and went onto to win 62.
This is like a Jekell and Hide performance from Ferarnley compared to the 1st set, upped his level taking the ball on with controlled aggression, handling the windy conditions better, Fonseca level dipped, Ferarnley won the 2nd set 61
Going 3, lets see how Fonseca responds?
The amount of power Fonseca can generate off a neutral ball is 'insane'
On his 2nd BP Fonseca breaks and will serve for the match 5-3, Fearnely with too many UFE in the 3rd set was his undoing, lost the momentum he had after wining the 2nd set 61, Fonseca never gave up,also he is serving for the match with the wind behind his back.
Fonseca with a great turnaround down 1-3 in the 3rd set and goes onto to win on his debut at IW 62 16 63 he will play Draper in the 2nd round.

I am not surprised that Nick Krygios retired in his match against Van de Zandschulp, yesterday he stopped his practice session due to 'wrist pain'
Van de Zandschulp wins via retirement 76(7) 3-0 and will face Novak Djokovic in the 2nd round

I see from his interviews Nick Kyrgios is still dining out on that glorious year when he won a single 500 tourney. Quoth he: I keep talking about that year 2022 and it’s like [sniffle] you can’t expect that anymore.

We didn’t expect it then either, Ringo. You got gifted a place in a slam final and surrendered two days before. Boring stories of glory days, indeed!

Tallon Griekspoor gets his first career Top 5 win, on his 6th MP, defeating Zverev (1) 46 76(5) 76(4)
Griekspoor gets his 2nd Top Ten win in 2 weeks and keeps going on what has been a very positive season for him so far!
Into round 3 at IW!
BTW Zverev was up 64 52, frankly it is a poor sequence of results from Zverev since the AO this year
Tallon last week saved MPs against Medvedev to win.
Tallon signed the camera after his win ' finally'

That was 7 years ago. His legs are older and heavier w/ matches now. Besides, these young guns are better than the Zed/Tits generation from 2018

Novak is 37, almost 38. Historically speaking, the chances of him resurging are slim, but...this is Novak. And he isn't that much older than Roger was when he resurged at age 35 in 2017. Novak is a whole generation younger than Roger, and aged better. So maybe Novak at 37 = Roger at 35.

Maybe. I still think the odds are against him, just that I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he has something like Roger's 2017-19 resurgence in him, albeit probably compressed over a shorter period of time and with fewer than Roger's three Slams. But as kskate2 said, the big difference is Jannik and Carlos, plus guys like Fonseca, Tien, and Mensik rising quickly. If he does win another Slam, I think it will just be one, either RG or Wimbledon this year.

I will watch Alcaraz match, remember last year at IW when we had the Killer Bees, at one of his matches and had to call in a specialist to get rid of them
Alcaraz not at his best today, though the big hitting Frenchmen hasnt got any weapons to defeat him. and is over playing his shots, Alcaraz 64 1st set and has a early break in the 2nd set leading 3-0
Alcaraz 64 62

Botic being Botic just ask Alcaraz at last years USO, he will serve for the match against Novak 5-1
I do like Novak's kit, Novak never settled at all in the match 37 UFE from him,
LL Botic d Novak 62 36 61! a well deserved win!
