I watched FAA match, Aussie Alexi played really well in that match, though remember, he also came through playing qualies at Adelaide, so he had more match practice than FAA, I would not be too worried by the result

Unexpected? I think we're conflating the Big 3 w/ "also rans!" I'm not the least bit surprised! Rune & FAA had a nice stretch at the end of the season, but there's no reason to think it would carryover to the next! We can't even be that sure of Dokovic at his age even though he won the YEC! Players are tougher today & the top of the draw has the most talent! Rune's a bit stronger in his game, but mentally he has to catch up to the best to stay there! Both Rune & FAA are still rather young; FAA w/o the weapons to upset multiple top players in a row!

That is true, Nishioka can be tricky, but I tought Rune would be able to handle him.

Coaching is now allowed on the Challlenger circuit as well. Interested to see the dynamic ( though I am totally opposed to coaching full stop)

Boris Becker will work again for German Eurosport during the AO.Becker won't travel to Melbourne, but will commentate the AO from a studio in Munich.It will be his first rile since leaving prison a few weeks ago.
