This will be their 3rd official meeting with Ruud lead the H2H, 2-0 (1-0 on Clay), over Cilic. Obviously, this will be their first meeting at a Slam. Quite an accomplishment from both Ruud and Cilic reaching the SF of RG.

Interesting fact: If Ruud wins this match, he will be ranked 6th in the world (a new career high) surpassing Alcaraz this upcoming Monday.

Ruud is the better on clay, but Cilic is the veteran at this level. I went with Cilic in four, partly as a nod to my friend @don_fabio. :)

Casper Ruud is the more natural clay courter compared to Marin Cilic in saying that Cilic has been his best at RG his least favored surface for some time, he has been playing aggressive, taking the ball on, his serve has been on fire, serving many aces.
Ruud has found his game on the clay at RG and has battled hard, which bodes well for the business end of a Grand Slam
Quite frankly I will not be disappointed with either player winning, though being a dirt baller myself I will pick Ruud.,

She cant help herself at times :)
Don Fabio is a great friend to me and these boards. I know you guys are kidding, but I always give a nod to the favorites of friends here. Within reason. Where he is a Djokovic man, we part company. But, seriously, Cilic is the one with experience at this high-altitude, and not just a little. Ruud will be the underdog. And Cilic is finding his game right now.

When did RG become High Altitude? or is that your play on words

Yes, a metaphor, in that the late rounds of the Majors are way above the tree line. Sorry, I forgot that altitude was a different issue in the clay season. #Madrid

Bookies put Ruud as a high favourite here and logic tells that he should win here, given how solid clay court player he is and he really raised his game this RG. But so did Cilic and I am hoping he can shake Ruud's confidence with great serving and lots of winners.

Mind tells Ruud in 4.
Heart says Cilic in 4 and this goes as a vote.

Well the bookies have been wrong so far at RG, Novak and Alcaraz both gone, the bottom half of the draw really opened up with one of the Clown Princes aka The Young Greek lost.

I find it surprising that they'd make Ruud the favorite, in part because I think the bookies know nothing about tennis. I honestly think that experience counts a lot at this level, and Marin has been playing very well. His serve is something that takes the racquet out of the hand, and it won him the USO. I think he'll be the more calm one tomorrow. Will be interesting to see how Ruud comes in.

Seeing Ruud has never been this far he will be nervous, hopefully that wont derail him from playing his game.
