I like Da Minor Aussie. Good baseline game. Needs to improve serve a bit and he'll be in top 15.

That section is very wide open. Cilic "should" reach the semi but he is so unreliable. Mcfly, Nishi and even De Minaur have a chance.

I'm surprised he's doing damage this tournament already. Obviously he moves well and is a bit of a ball machine but figured Cilic would take him.

Apparently, LA is the new graveyard court of the USO. There have been a # of top women seeds go out over there.

I am looking at Nole right now and no, Roger is not winning that one. A million planets have to line up for Roger to pull it off. Nole looks like he has his mojo back.

We have to hope for an amazing performance and for Djoker to be off a bit. And first things first, they have to get there. But yeah, if he plays like that Cincy final or how we saw today he is winning the title pretty easily.

Who has a better backhand between Gasquet and Wawrinka?

Went to the USO a few years back and saw Gasquet on Court 17 stadium, took dozens of photos of that BH, it’s so sweet looking. I would love to have a BH like that...

However watched Wawrinka later and while not as “pretty” his BH seemed more effective, seemed to penetrate the court more.

Just going by memory, I think Gasquet uses a bit of a "flick of the wrist" to produce his BH, while Wawrinka does a full blooded swipe of the ball producing more spin! It's something that hurts the best of players, but like others, it's a little inconsistent seeing as he can win a major, then lose in the 1st round of a 500 to a Qualifier or LL! It's just not something that happens to the other elites of the game even though he's done his part to be in the conversation here at the end of his career!   :ptennis:

Shocked that Fed and Kyrgios is during the day. I'm sure Mastoor will say they are showing Fed favoritism by putting him in the heat even though his matchup is 5 times more marquee than Djoker's.

Will you say this again after you watched both matches? I guess - not.

LOL..
This is a misleading stat. I know it's not yours, but you're likely using it to buff up your notion of "lucky draws."

But if you look at it, in 2013 he won, beating Djokovic, then #1. 2014 - absent due to injury. 2015-16 were years he sucked, so lost in R32 and R16. In those rounds he's not going to play a player ranked in the top 20. 2017 he did beat Del Potro, currently ranked #3 in the world, though then ranked #28, which was artificially low due to previous injury. You're still really just talking about 2017, and let's face it, barely anyone in the top 20 even played that year. Don't be stupid.

I hear ya, makes sense.

Though I confess my fave 1 handed the last few years was probably Almagro.

And he's courageous. He breaks with Cilic serving for it.

That was - BAM!

Really elated to see Roger back in this kind of form. He, and all of us need to remember that he can play this well here at USO. Back in 00s, this used to be as good as Wimbledon for him. He might not have won this since 2008 but he can play sublime tennis here and that will always take him a long way. Awesome!

Now let's take on Novak, one more time!

Too bad for Di Minaur...I thought he might just take it. Stand-out performance from him.
