US Open went the way of so many others and slowed down the play a ton. I don't think it's a surface change but just the ball they are using is heavier. And the weather conditions make it way more bouncy, a true paradise for evil. I guess God is a Nadal fan this summer for whatever reason.
The weather has been a huge factor. Conditions have been heavy and miserable. I don’t think u can put this all on balls or court speed.

Totally disagree. It's fine to give a warning for tanking but there is no excuse to do what he did. This is a professional match, played for serious money, ranking points, etc. These aren't 6 year old kids playing little league baseball. Having the chair ump of all people come down and basically fire a player up is just wrong on so many levels.

I agree with you that in that it's a mistake and it's not fair. But how much worse is this compared to a bad call that suddenly fires up a player into stratosphere or letting a player get away with in gross gamesmanship on a very big point that changes the result?

You apply different standards to "a famous tennis player" and to youself. Why is it so? Is "the GOAT" title next to your avatar name meaningful? I noticed, people on this forum are given various tennis titles according to their experiences. Your title suggests you're very experienced and very revered here, at least like Murray (or better, like Fed or Nad) in real tennis. So, given your equably "famous" status here, as a consequence, you should apply equal standard to youself and Murray. So, you should scold youself for your "pretty terrible" cursing.
If you chose not to scold youself, then stop scolding Murray because in such case you have no rights doing so. I don't care how you chose to behave and I even respect your choice (though I have to turn off my attention to avoid negative feelings it excites) but I hate when people apply double standards to themselves vs the others.

Double standards my ass. I'm not a famous sports person and I'm not on tv. Quite a difference being a role model when you're on tv and in the public light versus being just a normal person so of course there's a difference in "standards". Plus I don't curse anywhere near as much as Murray. And the title "The GOAT" gets automatically added to your name after a certain amount of time or posts. I didn't update it myself. I don't claim to be a saint but, equally so, I can't stand all the people here lately who think they are. Getting more than a bit tiresome with all the peacemakers and goody goodies here like a bunch of teenage girls telling tales on people.

A bad call is natural human error and can't really compare to something like this. This would be like an NFL ref firing up one of the QB's after he threw an interception for a touchdown. That ref would be fired the next day, I can promise you that. And with tennis being an all-around soft sport I bet little if anything comes of this.

I could say the same for Nadal. And if this clown is leaving the court every few minutes I think anyone would be pissed.

Yeah Nadal screams at his team box, at ball kids, breaks rackets, etc. You are right

He's been known to yell at ball kids and celebrates like a madman even on his opponent's unforced errors.

Nadal has never been known to yell at ball kids, I have not seen him yell at a ball kid not even once and I have seen all his matches.

If he celebrates at an opponent's unforced errors, maybe it's because he was running down balls for 2 minutes in that point playing amazing defense and therefore forcing the opponent to eventually miss. I would celebrate too for such an epic effort.

Stop hating. Djokovic, Murray & to a lesser extent Federer all have a bigger attitude problem than Nadal.

Guess you didn't watch the match where he yelled "banana!" at a ball kid like an ignorant clown. Plus he often yells puta. None of them are saints but most of them wouldn't leave the court to take a dump before their opponent served for the match. Except your pal Nadal of course...sporting chap that he is.

If there's something that I learned from the past is that the more Nadal gets hated on or put down, the more he wins. So please continue.

So far he hasn't backed up any win off clay. Not even a mickey mouse 250. So wouldn't be too sure about that. There's always a chance with his joke draw that he'll do it this year but, like I said, he never has even in a lesser event, except on clay. A glaring hole in his career achievements until such time as he does.

Honestly I don't judge players' attitudes by what they do during a match all too much. Yelling at chair umps at times, breaking racquets, etc. is better to me than fake injury timeouts and other gamesmanship.

Also, I don't think any of the other top guys had a chair ump temporarily banned from their matches for simply enforcing the rules.

Don't worry, I will hate the scum for as long as he plays. I still hated him in 2015 and 2016. The end of him can't come quick enough.

All of this because he threatens your boyfriend’s record. So sad. :lol6: You are afraid that Federer will suffer the same fate as Sampras.

Well if a peasant like that is able to get the record that just shows how much Roger underachieved.

But no, if he was a fun player to watch and I didn't have major suspicions of him being a juice monkey then I wouldn't care that much if he broke Roger's records. I hated Ferrer too, even though he won nothing of note and was 0-17 vs Federer.

I have the same opinion about Federer’s boring servebot game and the same suspicions about Federer and his career resurrection at 36-37 years old. Oh well. We do have something in common afterall.

I've never got this role model stuff when it comes to sports stars. If they are... then fine, but I'm not watching sport to see the next incarnation of Mother Theresa - I want competition, aggression. If some guy is yelling at his box then I think he's a jerk - he's the one on court, he should own it. I don't like Murray yelling at his box because I think it makes him a tosser, not because I am worried he's going to send my kids down the wrong path in life.
