I think it is contagious. Xavier Malisse also calls it off.

Who is next in line? I will give three likes to anyone who correctly predicts
the next retiree.

A fine player and kind of shocking he only won 3 titles in 15 years on tour as he certainly had game. All the best to him in his retirement. Wish I could retire already :)

Ivo Karlovic, maybe? Like Haas and Michael Russell, he's more of the "lost generation" before Federer - born in the late 70s. Radek Stepanek also. Generation Gustavo?

Nikolay Davydenko comes to mind - he's really slipped, although still has some good matches. It doesn't seem Lleyton Hewitt wants to hang up the racket just yet, although maybe he'll call it quits after the Australian Open.

Of the other Gen Fed players, Youzhny and Ferrer are both still playing at a high level, and Robredo has had a bit of a career resurgence. Julien Benneteau and Jurgen Melzer are also playing at or near their typical levels. I'm sure there are many others, but those are the big names I can remember off hand.

So I'd guess Karlovic or Davydenko. Stepanek seems too proud to retire just yet, but maybe not.

Stepanek is top 40 in singles and just won a couple challengers in Europe. He's also doing well in doubles with Paes. He's also in the Davis Cup final vs. Serbia. Stepanek is just about at a career high point it seems.

Malisse was a funky player, so talented, came close a few times, Wimbledon SF or QF off the top of my head. Some very nice wins, some memorable close losses. Some amazing performances like the IW doubles win with Dolgo vs. Fed and Stan. X was a unique smooth nice player to watch. A pretty nice guy too. Always gives a reporter a nice interview, at least in my experiences.

Dude, you misunderstood my offer. I did not say, I will give a "like" for each name you
throw at us. I said I will give three "likes", if you come up with a SINGLE answer that proves
to be correct.

Are El Dude and I the only ones who will offer a prediction?

Next one to jack it in? Muster's seconding coming is over, right? So not Muster, then!

Victor Hanescu will slip away quietly at the end of the season, you read it first here!

Very true Scoop. Sadly I think X will be more remembered for the relationship he had w/ Capriati than any of his underrated tennis performances.

I'll go with Marc Gicquel.

That's a good guess. Did you know he's 36? (I looked it up.) There can't be too many that old still playing. Karlovic is 34, Michael Russell and Tommy Haas are 35.

Figured he was 35+ alright and checked myself too and when I saw he was 36 now that seems like a good candidate I reckon. Stepanek is 35 Nov 27th but I think and also hope he'll hang around a bit longer as I reckon he still has a few good wins left in him. As has been pointed out he's doing great in DC and doubles too so I reckon he'll play for a while more. Hoping Haas keeps going for a another year or 2 and Russell I guess will stay as long as his publicist says it's ok

Stepanek is also dating a WTA player. That's another incentive to stick around a few more years.

He is always dating a WTA player; who exactly it is changes, that's all.
At one time it was Martina, at another time it was Nicole Vadisova (what happened to her?)

So, what does this mean? As long as WTA exists, Stepanek will not retire.

Both Martina and Nicole called it quits. I don't think his current partner is going anywhere soon. My point was the dating is an added incentive to the DC and his success at doubs.
