The Tournament:

The Wuhan Open was one of three WTA events in China new to the calendar in 2014. It is also one of two Premier-level stops in China.

Sandwiched in between Premier events in Tokyo and Beijing during the WTA's Asian swing, the Wuhan Open takes place at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center.

Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province and the most populous city in Central China, is often referred to as the country's economic and geographical center. It is also the hometown of two-time Grand Slam champion Li Na. Src: Wiki

About Wuhan

Wuhan, the sprawling capital of Central China’s Hubei province, is a commercial center divided by the Yangtze and Han rivers. The city contains many lakes and parks, including expansive, picturesque East Lake. Nearby, the Hubei Provincial Museum displays relics from the Warring States period, including the Marquis Yi of Zeng’s coffin and bronze musical bells from his 5th-century B.C. tomb.

singles - Semifinals
[14] Petra Kvitova (CZE) d [4] Simona Halep (ROU) | 6 - 1 | 6 - 2 |
[10] Dominika Cibulkova (SVK) d [9] Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) | 3 - 6 | 6 - 3 | 6 - 4 |

So we'll have Kvitova vs Cibulkova in the final of this one.

I am a bit surprised at how easy Halep lost.
