A few surprises with the seeds. Isner has a bad ankle and dropped out of the tournament yesterday. Gilles Simon and Kevin Anderson were late additions and are the top two seeds. Defending champ Lukas Rosol is there as well as Tommy Haas who got a wildcard. Borna Coric gets a seed for the first time in his career at No. 8.

Given his wise decision of not playing in Winston-Salem, I think Isner may actually reach the second week of USO (assuming, of course, that he did not run into Kohly).

francis tiafoe bt ryan Harrison in last qualifying round.

This is worse for Harrison than it is good for Tiafoe. Harrison looked like he might be on the comeback trail earlier in the year but no longer.

This tourney always has some implications for USO Series. This year #1 spot is already clinched by Andy and #2 spot is already clinched by Novak. Fed gets #3 spot, unless Marcos Baghdatis wins this tourney, in which case Marcos gets it.

So, Go anyone other than Marcos!

Surprisingly, only five US Players in a 48 player draw in US.

Why? The US stinks on the men's side! :lolz::snicker :laydownlaughing - It's been pathetic since Roddick was our standard bearer! He's no world beater and the men haven't been relevant since the days of Sampras, Agassi, Courier, Chang, Washington, and Martin OTTH! WE had so many top players, one who had a Russian mom went to play for their team! :cover :nono  :dodgy:

That is the reason. Generally speaking good players will not be playing in the week before GS.
Given that US players suck and that this is a tourney in US Soil, one would expect more of them
to play in this.

How much money do you want to put on a Rosol title defense? :snicker

LOL I've got a few Singapore dollars in the back of a drawer somewhere. But that's all I'm betting on that horse. :snicker

Since you brought up int'l money; I wonder about the many Guilders I still have from Amsterdam? It was before they went to the Euro; was there in 2001! I'll probably just hold onto it and give them to my nieces and nephew as collector items! :dodgy:
