I am not going to predict the outcome of these matches.After yesterday's 'carnage'.........

Guess I'm a little confused why the defending champ is playing on Court 1 instead of Centre Court? How does the JDP vs Levine match take precedence?

Well Radwanska is last year's finalist, so everyone has to switch out to get them accustomed to playing on the bigger courts. It isn't like Serena got switched out for some random no name.

Sabine blew by Elena, now will face Samantha.
Li prevailed although she had her usual senior moment and lost the middle set 1-6
Serena beat on the French Garcia and won 3-2
Date-Krumm is into the 3rd round.
Madison Keys beats Barthel to get into 3rd round too.

Calvy, they only schedule one women's match on CC daily. So all the tp women will get their chance in the first week. By the way, Fed is treated like a God at Wimby whether he's defending champ or not. He plays 95% of his matches on CC and it's been this way for years.

Being a 5x champ isn't that far behind being a 7x champ. And lets say he drops to number 8 in the world by next year Wimby, which is a credible possibility, does he get all of his matches on Centre Court and the women's defending champ just get a couple?

It doesn't have anything do w/ Serena being a 5x champ. The top men have always gotten preferential court assignments at Wimby. At least as long as I've been watching and that's been several decades. You haven't seen anything yet. Wait to the R16 when everyone plays and they have to choose court assignments. You could see some of the top women (former champs even) on Court 2 or 3.
It'll be a little different this year as 5 of your top players and/or former champs are already out so there's no tussle between Rafa, Fed, Maria, Vika, Venus for top court assignments.

#24 seed goes down.
And Madison Keys wins again over #30 Barthel, who isn't too old herself. Barthel is one of those players that annoys me because she can be downright phenomenal but just can't do that day in day out. So inconsistent. Keys now has made the third round of a slam for the second time, the first time coming earlier this year at the AO. Seeing as she has yet to play at Wimbledon, making the third round your first time out is pretty darn good. Same thing with Bouchard yesterday. She won the junior title last year and now this year she's into the 3rd round of the big girls tournament.
On another note, so sad to see Maria sitting in the stands watching Dimitrov today because she has nothing else to do. The Federer loss was more shocking technically. But I really didn't think de Brito would pull off the upset. I say that because we all know she's got talent and power. But Sharapova has been so good at coming back when she does get down this year and the last 2 years really. She's so solid. But, her 2 most memorable early losses of the last 2 years have come here.
And while I'm not a fan of de Brito. I don't have a problem with her. So hopefully she can win another match or two to make the most out of this win, you know, as part of this whole, the young guns are rising up sort of thing. It will also look worse for Sharapova if she loses in the next round.
SO.... we're down to 16 of the 32 seeds making the third round. And while the third round isn't totally set yet. The only seed that hasn't played yet is #7 Kerber. And I'm pretty sure I pick her over Kanepi. BUT Kanepi can be very good. So... we'll see. I personally would want Kerber to win that one. I like her. I see her as one of the young guns often, because she started later. When she showed up I thought she was younger because I'd never heard of her. So when I looked her up and saw that she was 23 or 24 (she's 25 now) I was really surprised. I mean, that's older than Vika and Kvitova and Woz. She's just a year younger than Maria. Just took her longer to develop or get her mental aspect of her game to a point where she could be consistent enough to win.
So I imagine that we'll be starting the third round tomorrow with 16 of the women's seeds left. Which, I'm not sure how I feel about. My first reaction is that it's terrible. But that may not be that bad. If we were looking at like 8 of the top 32 seeds going to the third round, I'd be concerned about the fact that they are in the top 30 at all. But.... for one, some people just can't play on grass. And 2, it isn't 8 only. It's 16. Which does seems low at the very least. You would think the seeds would be more consistent. BUT.... there are a number of women in the top 32 who are good but aren't great. Who can get to the top 30 but aren't necessarily at a level that they should be there their whole careers. And many of them are older and haven't been there their whole careers. They're just now getting to a point where they have enough experience that they win more than they lose and that puts them in the top 30. Your top 10 players are the ones who really belong in the top 30 definitely and the top 20 probably and usually do belong in the top 10, but not always. And... back to the story, the damage being done here is by the younger women and they are a good crop. If they can get it together mentally now, rather than a few years down the road, they can go ahead and be top 32 women. But basically the point is that there is a ton of depth in the women's top 100 and many of these ladies are at similar talent and ability and power levels and so they beat up on each other all the time.

But, I understand what you're saying, the motto must be, "be grateful you're getting equal pay." lol
I think what did pova in was ego...she looked disgusted playing on Crt2.I think she was not focused because her ego was taken a notch down by the court assignment.Her body language was very telling,very different when she was playing on the big courts.
I remember Venus playing her first match on crt 2 while struggling with Sjogren and having to walk to this court,by the time the match started she was so exhausted..
I think the organizers at Wimbledon were not that interested in pova,something must have made them mad...most likely her agent who is know within media circles as a pain...

^ TBH, there's some truth in there. I've been a big defender of equal pay, and I have to say that moaning about court assignments for your favorites looks petty.
