Early scores so far:
Sloane drops opener to Kiri.
Maka does the same to Krumm
Stosur down a set to Wicky

On my way to work, will check in later.

I couldnt get how Stusor was destroyed in such way, then I saw Kim on the stand and it was obvious where Yanina took her powers from. Good win

oh Sloane! couldnt save the 6th match point :D crazy good match.
Makiri served around the 90% 1st serves :exclamation: in 2nd set and played clean high level tennis.
What happened to the grand slam "specialist"? ;) Sloane needs a slap on the face to wake her up, and she needs it now.

Sam and Sloane are out after only 2 hours of play in Wimby! Who is next ?! thats crazy.
Yanina and Makiri didnt exist on the tour in last months and look what they did :puzzled

Welp, I'm done. Screw this Wimbledon. Lol. Just kidding. But so dissappointed with Sloane's loss. Yeah Kirilenko has always had some game and has more experience but Sloane is better and should have won. She was up 5-2 in the tiebreak after saving 5 match points down 5-6 in the second set. But, while I hate it and she'll drop in the rankings, Sloane has been bad all year. She's not playing at her best. She's not putting forth a world class effort every point. She had no business losing that first set 2-6 today. Not with her serve. Kirilenko isn't that good. But I'm not surprised. Not even a little bit. Hopefully this will be what she needs to take it up a notch. To play every match at every tournament as if it actually matters, rather than just at the slams. She is so infuriating. And at this point, it's infuriating to see these other young girls playing with a better attitude and going further in the slams and moving up in the rankings. I like Bouchard, but Sloane's my girl. I'm just worried she's going to disappear. But, I do think she's too good for that. She's just got to find a way to impose her game in every match. Moving on. It's one less person to root for. So that's good. Less stress.

:D she is insane. throwing her career through the window. I believe that she has an issue with her self confidence.
She doesnt want to be hurt mentally when she puts a real effort and lose, so she behaves like a petulant little girl by "not caring"!
Sloane cares too much and thats why she doesnt care. Does it makes sense?...
She wants to avoid pain so she doesnt try hard. She is indifferent in purpose. She needs a psychologist asap.
She must understand that the pain of losing is a part of the deal. She is blocking her real emotions.

That could be part of it I think. I really do. Or not. Who knows. She seemed rather mature when she first showed up. But maybe she's not so much. Or maybe she is and it's something else. I'd love to say I know what it is. We all would. And we all say this or that all the time. But we simply can't know. I think a lot of it still has to do with the weight of expectation. When you show early promise and it creates this whirlwind of "the next big thing" it can just be suffocating. Especially in the US. Though, tennis just isn't as big as it used to be in the US. But the weight of expectation can affect anyone from anywhere. But I definitely feel like I see it more from US players. Simona is out there tearin up the tour right now. It took her a few years to get to that point. But she put in the work to do it and now we all see that she's a really solid player. But that idea may be incorrect. She may just need some patience. She, like most young players, goes for too much too early way too often.

I'm just hoping that Annacone can help her through this on the tennis side and her family and friends can help her through it on the mental side. I just want them to figure it out and move past it so she can do some winning. But at this point, I think we have to accept that she'll never be dominating the game. Which, I'm not sure I believe anyone is going to dominate the game for more than a year here or there for quite some time. The depth in the women's game is quite remarkable.

Well my girl Makarova pulled it out! I do hate to see Date-Krumm lose, though I can't say I'm a fan. Just a ... "she's old and gives her all and is so small so I respect the mess out of her" type thing. Still always been a fan of Makarova since she tour through Eastbourne 3 to 5 years ago as a qualifier. Grass is my favorite surface of the season, so when she did that I instantly became a fan. Then again, Paszek and others have done the same thing or something similar and I can't say I'm a fan of theirs. Makarova isn't just a grass specialist though. So I guess I at least get to see her do well enough all year to be top 30. A second round match with young-ish Misaki Doi could be interesting. I still don't know much about Doi. But she beat Svitolina to get to the second round. And perhaps Svitolina just doesn't know grass play well yet, but she's one of the best young players around in my mind. By the end of this year or more likely by the end of next year she could be right up there with these other young guns. Anyways, looking forward to a good tournament for Ekaterina. Definitely hoping she makes it to Radwanska, though I'm hoping Radwanska won't be there waiting. But Makarova's third round match is going to be against a quality player no matter what. Errani, Garcia, Pironkova, or Lepchenko. Erranki is awful on grass and I'm hoping she loses to Garcia. And I'm hoping Garcia makes the third round. Pironkova the grass specialist though, could be the one to come through. But Lepchenko's game could just be too much for her, if she's healthy and playing well.

Good start of Wimby and good to see Vika healthy after playing 2 matches. The WTA needs a Vika in form to challenge all the other girls.

Ecstatic to see Venus come through. She couldn't even play last year. Right? She can add some points, but mostly I just want to see her do well here. Before Serena got to 5 titles here, and even now, I consider this Venus' tournament. Not in the sense that she's the favorite (that would be Serena). But in the sense that she's just always been so wonderful here. Venus fits in here. Venus has always embodies elegance for me, despite her screeching. She's classy as they come it seems. And she fought for equal prize money. Something that I think puts her right up there with Billie Jean King and of course Wimbledon was the first to make it equal at Venus and King's behest. At least I think so. Oh nostalgia.

This Konjuh girl is going to be very good it seems. Could do even more damage at this tournament this year.

After a plethora of MP's, Coco removes Mugu from the facilities in a close one 6-3 3-6 7-5.

Sloane Stephens could drop out of the top 20,after today she is no 20 and just 85 points ahead of Safarova who is still in the tournament.

Good win from Maria Kirilenko she stuck to her game plan throughout the match.

Tomorrow's schedule is out and I cant get the logic behind it.
They kept 3 popular players TBA while matches with less popular players have their court and time. Thats weird. I am talking about Ana, Zvonareva and.. SIMONA HALEP no.3 in the world not knowing where she will play. How weird is that...
Irina Begu ranked 85 knows when and where while Halep ranked 3 has no clue when and where she will play.
At least its not a conspiracy because Ana the VIP and Vera are treated just as bad :D
Weirdos and disrespectful as well :puzzled They should make TBA the less popular players.

There was a chance of only 20% of rain and it happened. Only in England ;)

Had to look it up. I didn't realize MaKiri had slipped so low

in the rankings ( 80s ) to be a dangerous lurker. Bad for

top 20 players to see her in the early rounds. On any day

she can sting somebody.

Yeah, good player and one of the prettiest on tour. Her knee injury was the reason her ranking plummeted. She was number 9 before the injury.
