Wimbledon 2016 women's fashion

Tournament has not even begun, but the controversy over the dress has begun. Apparently
Wimbledon has recalled Genie's dress before she even wears it claiming its short length contravenes the "common standards of decency". Nike is now fixing the dress.

Forgetting the decency part, apparently the dress is not a comfortable one to play tennis in as well. But, these girls are forced to wear them due to contractual obligations.

I am all for skimpy dresses as any other man, but Nike's design surely can hamper the play and hence is bad design.

I think Donna Vekic (Stan's item) was wearing Nike's Nightie today. It looks like Nike removed the flap from the dress. Other than that, I don't see any more alterations. Now, we will get to see Eugenie (who went on record saying she likes it being short) and all other Nike girls in nightie.

Finally, I learnt today the reason behind white dresses in Wimbledon.

Once upon a time (when women tennis players used to cover lot of their body), it was considered not lady like, when the sweat shows through the dress (especially through armpits). But, then tennis players do sweat. Apparenlty, the sweat does not show that much in a white dress as compared to dresses of other colors. So, it was mandated that White dress be used by women when playing tennis. For the sake of parity, Men were also asked to use white color.

p.s. I did not make this up. It is true history.

Personally think Serena's dress was the most creative and elegant piece. Second runner up honors go to Belinda.
