Anyone requiring accommodation close to Wimbledon I can recommend Wembley Accommodation Services, whose web site is shown above. I have used them for a number of years. They find people who can put you up in their household for as long as you wish during the Wimbledon fortnight on a B & B basis at a good price. You will have to pay a booking fee to the Company beforehand, about £10 per person per night. It's OK if you already have tickets through the ballot, and don't have to queue all night. I've done both over many years. The accommodation I have stayed at has always been adequate, and close to Southfields Station, which is 15 min from The All England Club. If anyone has never been to Wimbledon and needs to know anything let me know through the forum.

I was about to say... ALREADY??? RG hasn't even happened yet, and we don't have a thread for it yet :D

£10 per person per night? Wow! I used to live on Queensmere Road, literally a 5 minute walk from the courts. Even if my spare rooms weren't taken up by my relatives coming to get close to the action during Wimbledon fortnight, I can't imagine renting out a room for that sort of nothing money. Truth be told a 100 times that wouldn't have been enough to even make me blink! Good on the property owners!

Sorry for any misunderstanding the £10 in question was the booking fee only, not the cost of the B&B , I would imagine that would be about £30 + per person per night.

^Ah! That's a bit better :) Still very cheap though. But be in the flats near Southfields. Not the nicer properties closer to the courts

When I first started going to Wimbledon I used to go by train from Barnsley, South Yorks to Kings Cross, then take the under ground to Southfields. All in all very time consuming to get there and back in one day.I then decided to take advantage of the accommodation aspect and thought it was much more convenient. My wife is disabled though and as such we have been to Wimbledon a few times having been fortunate enough to obtain tickets through the Wheelchair Ballot. Unfortunately not so lucky this time. Not sure whether to go on my own or not, and join the famous Wimbledon queue.

I've talked to people from as far away as New Zealand in that queue. On the one hand there seems to be a nice camaraderie amongst the hard core (people queue overnight), but on the other it seems like an awful lot of trouble to me. If you do decide to go, I do hope you get a ticket:) I quite like the flexibility of tv and being able to switch over to any number of other matches

The thing about T.V is that you can't appreciate how hard the players hit the ball, and also the chance to get up and close to the players on the outside courts. You have to be in the queue at least 24 hrs before the morning of the first days play if you want a Centre Court ticket. I have been fortunate to have camped out overnight and got Centre Court tickets, but I have also missed out on a few occasions. Even so I have seen some great five set matches on the outer courts, so I have no complaints at all. I have seen a Ladies Final on Centre Court between the Williams sisters followed by the Mens Doubles Final, and Ladies Doubles Final all on the same day. Would love to see a Men's Singles Final one day. But that is the luck of the Wimbledon Ballot which I always enter each year.

It's funny it's been a couple of years since I moved from Wimbledon. And the first few summers I didn't miss Wimbledon fortnight at all. Particularly not the one in 2012 which was a nightmare for me, with the Olympics following shortly after - even if Roger won that year! But I must admit that this year I'll probably feel the nostalgia. I hope the weather is pleasant, and make sure you take some good camping equipment!
