Well, the 21 yr old just took out the #2 seed (Maria Sharapova) in the 2nd round of the Miami Open. She's been around as a junior USO champ. Let's get to know this youngster through some of her best matches:

After beating Maria, instead of promptly losing in the next round to a lesser known opponent,
Daria followed through won her next match too. :clap

So, she has proved that she can play well in consecutive matches. But, we need to wait
and see as to whether she can play well in consecutive tournaments.

Thanks for starting this thread. She has a good serve, great defensive skills, and mental toughness. Those attributes will take her far. Winning a junior GS is a reliable predictor of success.

Pliskova was too strong for Daria yesterday. She sends the youngster home in straights. A very good tournament though, getting to the 4th round and upsetting the #2 seed.

Pliskova is a future top 5. No shame losing to her. Daria had a great tournament. Looking forward to seeing more of her.

Daria is presently being coached by former Aussie player Nicole Pratt.Daria just recently got into the Top 100 before this tournament.I hope Nicole can stop the 'bobbing of her head in shots, maybe she needs to watch a tape of Serena or Venus Williams ...love the passion and the fight, she is still young and learning.Daria had a great tournament, soon to be a Aussie citizen

Daria does it again. Being down a set and 4-0, she climbs all the way back to defeat Ana 5-7, 7-6(2), 7-6(7) :celeb:

To answer the original question, she is a dangerous floater being unseeded. Hope she draws Dominatrix and dominates her once again.
