Hasn't done well? Quite likely his best ever Year-end ranking? Only player other than Novak to win multiple Masters titles this year? One of only 3 players to beat Novak in a big tournament all year? Best ever clay court season? A record-equalling Queens title? Getting to at least the SF of 11 of the 12 big events he has played this year so far? And reaching the final of over half of the big events he has played, 6 finals? By far his best year ever in this regard. And winning at least 2, possibly 3 of those finals if he wins D. Cup, beating both Novak and Rafa? Equalling his best ever results at AO, FO, and Canada, and doing better than he ever has before in Madrid and Paris? First GB Davis Cup final for almost 40 years, and could be first Davis Cup win in almost 80 years?
All this given he was ranked world no.12 late last year, and I thought he may be through at the top level of tennis after his surgery. This is a wonderful year for Murray, far exceeding my expectations!

I agree. It's just that his losses to Djokovic and Federer are the only things that people seem to remember. Never mind the 4 titles, 2 Masters, AO Final, possible Davis Cup, No. 2 Ranking and so on. Murray has had a fantastic year, despite what the others are arguing over.

I don't think people forget this stuff, they just hold him to a higher standard. It's a compliment and a curse.

Didi said:... I was more like Deliciano Lopez or Fernando Verdasco, dating all the girls and making their mums feel elated while barely sneaking through the exams. Then in the University I was more like Berdych, making C-grades (the equivalent of a quarterfinal exit) from the very beginning until the end but could never quite reach the B and A grades to save my life. Now at work I'm more like Rosol and Fognini - only showing up and putting all my skills on display when the boss arrives to dance. In my marriage I relate to Dimitrov, I promise too much and pretend to be something I'm not. In other parts of my marriage I relate to Nishikori, fantastic talent but the odd fitness issues let me down. Regarding those eight options above I relate to Stan the most.

So, if that's my trait, then maybe I'm more like the player who has come back from two sets down to win a 5-set match. Who has done this more than anyone?
Boris Becker. I read somewhere that Boris has the record of 10 comebacks from two sets down. Not sure how accurate that it but makes sense. I have yet to reach my full potential, if I ever do, just like BB. However, I do not engage in extracurricular broom closet activities so the similarities end there.
