The older of the sisters is 33 come June and has been battling immune disease for last few years.
But she has improved in the ranking and won title as early as last year, she has made deep runs in other events as well, still going strong.

When do you think Venus will hang the racquet?

This is a fun poll.
Do not take seriously.
:)

Next year wouldn't surprise me actually and then a possible return for the Olympic doubles with Serena.

She will stick around until 2016 I think. Although she's no longer the force she once was in singles, she probably still hopes for one last great run at Wimbledon. And in doubles she's still one of the best so I'm sure that if health permits it she'll try to keep the sister act going until the Olympics.

I think she will be stubborn and stick around until 2016 like what Serena plans. I think she will rope Serena into more doubles play.

She may hang in long enough to play doubles with Serena in Brazil. If not, 2015. She knows she still has chops over most of the field. And I think she has the ambition and pride to stick with it.

I voted for 2016 because of the comments she has made after the 2012 Olympics. However, I would like for her to just play doubles from now on until the Rio games. :D

From singles maybe already after this year. In doubles I think she'll play with Serena until after the olympics. Let's hope that they're good together.

I love Venus... I wish she would retire now. Her body can't handle it and I hate to see her legacy diminished.

I think Venus is really a different kind of person and player than Serena. It has always seemed like Venus' first and foremost love is tennis. I think she doesn't feel comfortable anywhere but on the court. She's shy and timid and soft spoken but on court she comes alive. That is why I think she will not leave quietly.

I would like for her to go out still in the top 20 and with dignity. She has a great legacy and has had a wonderful career. I agree with you however, I also do not believe that she will leave quietly. :-/

Hi everyone! New to the boards.
I went with 2014 for singles. The consistency really isn't there anymore. I expect her to continue playing Fed Cup till the young ones are ready to step up.

Hello, golds girl! Welcome to Tennis Frontier! :)

I also voted for 2014, thinking in terms of singles. Like so many others, I think she'll stick around to 2016 in order to play doubles with Serena in Rio.

I'm not sure about Fed Cup, but I guess she'll need to be involved somewhat in order to qualify for the Olympics.

I don't think she will retire 2014. I think you might see her play a far reduced schedule, but she is too stubborn to retire at least before Serena.

I've loved Venus for so long but it's time. I don't want to see her this way. It's clear that she loves the game and loves the tour and feels pain in giving it up. I hope she will retire soon, at least in singles.

I would think it would be fairly soon. She has had so many troubles over the last two years and what more does she need to accomplish after her hall of fame career?

she will retire when she is good and ready....not when internet experts say so..
