Are you a lover of the Australian Open?  Do you relish the clay courts of Roland Garros?  Love the history of Wimbledon or the bright lights of Flushing Meadow?

What is your favourite Grand Slam tournament?

My preference is:

Australian Open - No longer the runt of the grand slam litter, I have grown to love this tournament, partly because I live in Australia and get to see a lot of matches and secondly, it's the first major after an extended break.

Followed by:

Wimbledon, US Open and then Roland Garros.

1-Wimbledon

2-Australian Open (a very close second. Would have been 1st if not for the whole Wimbledon tradition, prestige, and the rarity of grass court tennis).

3-French Open

4-US Open

I have to go for AO as #1.  Smack in the middle of Canadian winter, there is no better sight than that sunshine and you can instantly feel better. B-)   And the action there starts at 7:00pm here so sleep might be lacking during those 2 weeks but it is well worth it.

I don't really have preferences for the other 3, each has some appealing things on its own.

I love Wimbledon and the French Open, for the tradition, and the old-school natural surfaces.  Each asks very different things of the player.  Obviously, I want to give props to my local Slam (USO,) and though I have problems with them, it's the one I get to go to every year.  I'm with Billie on the antipodean appeal of Oz, though, smack in our Northern winter.  We don't get enough sleep, but it gives us a bit of refracted summer.  I've always been a clay fan, so I would say Roland Garros first, Wimbledon second, and the other two a draw.

  1. French Open cause its on clay and I grew up with that tournament more than the other ones.
  2. wimbledon because I like the bbc coverage.
  3. ao because it looks like a really relaxed and fun tournament
  4. leaves the us open in the last spot, I don't like the entertainment thing they have going on there

My favourite slam is Australian Open because the colour scheme, but I will have to rethink after watching the official video to announce Australian Open 2016. It is popularly called "Whole Lotta Nadal" :)

Well, I was going to ask Mastoor to brush that chip off his shoulder, but it does take them quite some time to get to Djokovic (basically 2 minutes in) in that video.  Considering how many times he's won it in the last 7 years.  Here is the list of sponsors from their website:

Kia is listed first, though it does seem to be a shameless Nike-fest, when Nike isn't even listed, at all.  However, it isn't all Nadal.  There's quite a lot of Serena, (who did win last year,) but also Roger (well, OK,) and, um...Genie Bouchard?

Yes, but there are counter arguments. As far as sponsors are concerned, No1e's sponsored by ANZ Bank and Jacob's Creek winery, both Associate Sponsors which is only a rank bellow Kia which is a sole Major Sponsor (Nike is not a sponsor). Then No1e won AO  record number of times, proved to be able to draw packed  stadiums in Australia 12 times in a single month, which doesn't apply to Rafa.

On bright side, I think they should invite AC/DC to make Whole Lotta Rafa spot with a 50m full blown Rafa doll over the stage. ;-)

True. Seems the company that made the video was sponsored by Nike

And yet Nike doesn't sponsor the AO.  A little weird.
