Wawrinka Changes His Name To Stan
by Tom Gainey | May 20th, 2014

With the public spotlight growing brighter since his Australian Open title, Stanislas Wawrinka has told the ATP that he now wants to go by Stan.

Wawrinka’s manager, Lawrence Francopan, told the “Tages-Angzieger” via translation, “Stanislas is long and bulky in the written form, also not easy to pronounce. There was always confusion. Furthermore him anyway call all, ‘Stan the Man.’”

He is going to legally change his name or just wants to be called Stan? Tommy Haas legally changed his name from Thomas Mario Haas to just Tommy Haas. I really don't understand why he wanted to do that? But in "Stan the Man" case I can see why he just wants to be called Stan. I can't even pronounce his last name :cover

I personally found Tommy's legal name change a bit silly and I am a big fan of his because he was alway just called Tommy Haas anyway

Next time you see Stan, he'll be riding a motorbike and he'll have a goatee, and a nineteen year old on the back of the bike...

Approaching 30 is when a tennis player gets his "mid-life crisis."

I think Stan has already crossed the mid-life crisis point. In case, folks
don't remember he actually divorced his wife (under a strange reason
that he wanted to focus more on tennis) and his personal life was in
a mess. But, then later they patched up and they have a baby girl now.

Having said all that, he now has more money and therefore 17 year
old girl and biker scenario can happen, as he can now afford high
maintenance girls.

Maybe other players will follow Stan's lead...

Mayer can be "Flo"
Gabashvili can be "Tey"

and Delbonis can be.... "Fed" :)

They had the child before the split. I think that's why some tennis fans were so disgusted by his actions. None of our business though.

I have to say I'm not a big fan of the 'Stan the man' on the trainers or the 'Stanimal' on the racquet bag. Just looks a little tacky for me but each to their own.

I knew he had divorced, but I didn't know he and his wife had a child first! Some reason to leave your family "to focus more on tennis" look at Roger a husband and father of 4 :)

A guy goes to court to legally change his name. The judge asks him:
"So, what's your name son?"

The guy, embarrassed:
"It is John Dumbass , Your Honor..."

The judge says: "Oh my, you do have a point there...so, what would you like to change it to?"

The guy says" I want to change it to Ray Dumbass...too many Johns out there Your Honor"
