Venus Williams has returned to the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings for the first time in four years by defeating Karolina Pliskova 7-5, 7-6 (6) in the final of the WTA Elite Trophy.
The 35 year old American added the title to the Auckland and Wuhan trophies won earlier in the year, marking the first time she’s had a 3 title haul since 2008.
“I’m so excited to win the first trophy in Zhuhai. All the players felt so welcome here and we appreciated all of the enthusiasm.†said the 7 time major winner in the post-match interview.
Williams will be ranked #7 on Monday.
