I think Novak will play it smart. The thing about Novak is in the best of 3 things happen quickly and it is somewhat easier to take a match from him. In the best of 5 Novak can destroy you just by making you play an extra hour or two. His conditioning is unreal and is part of the reason he is who he is. Novak has to stay aggressive and punish Zverev’s second serve when he can.

I'll stick with bold prediction of Zverev taking out Novak and in 4 sets.

This SF looked like booked as soon as the draw came out. I do believe Zverev has a chance here and could have beaten Novak in AO this year if it wasn't for some usual chocking from his side. At least they should have gone to 5th set...On the other hand I just hope Novak can ride the storm and come through.

I think Djokovic has really two options to assert himself early and cause a negative feeling in Zverev early trying to end this quickly. As I mentioned in another post, Djokovic has seemed reluctant to actually play aggressive tennis here. He seems to be playing in the hopes that his opponents will win his matches for him. Or, Djokovic can grind Zverev into potentially 5 sets where he typically has faltered.

When Novak is playing their opponents have to be in the best physically way like he is, 34 years old and he has more resistance than the ones in the 20's, incredible but true, so I hope Zverev will be stronger than ever

We've been talking about this one, you and I, since the draw challenge. I have to say, I don't have complete faith in Zverev to step up to the plate. He's got a lot on the line here, and he knows it. If he pressures Novak early, he's got a chance, because the pressure has been showing on Djokovic most of this tournament. Zverev has been so close, not just on Novak, but to the US Open Title. He doesn't want to be seen as a choker in the big moments. But let's face it....I voted Zverev in 5, but I think it will be Djokovic in 4. Zverev is unlikely to be Novak's "Roberta Vinci." Mostly because Zverev is not sneaking up on him. And additionally because Novak knows his history, and will expect this round to be slippery. I have a hard time seeing him misstep.

Zverev has got to take care of his service games even though he is facing the greatest service returner in the history of the game. (Agassi was excellent but Novak is a far better athlete). Sascha's return of service is going to be the key, he can't let Novak's service boss him around. If he and his team sees the same thing I have, it's really the same thing. When Novak is ahead in his service games, he will go for more by serving deep to the corner of the boxes. Whenever he is behind he will serve down the T. Take away the down T serve by cheating towards the middle which should not be difficult because Sascha's arms and wingspan is so wide he can recover against the deep corner boxes serves.

Sascha has got to bring Novak to the front court and expose Novak's Achilles heel, his overhead smash plus average hands around the net. 4 sets is what is needed because a 5 set is the deepest part of the ocean which Novak will try to take the younger German.

I think Djokovic knows he has to step it up, now whether that brings out the best or worse in Djokovic tonight will remain to be seen. Motivating factor: Take him out to avenge loss at the Olympics, and not be Zverev’s first top ten let alone win over a number 1. Con: The mountain of everything he is trying to achieve weighing on his nerves.

We have a saying ''from your mouth to the god's ears'', which is literal translation, but you get the meaning.

There is sure pressure on Zverev too. It is coming down to mentality again. Zverev has weapons to hurt Novak, but does he have a head? I just think he has to be agressive when it matters and not grind too much with Novak. They know each other by now. In some way I think this match is more about Zverev than Novak, if germain can execute his shots well for 3-4 hours he could win it. I hope you get a good night session match, maybe 5 sets. I will be asleep and will check the score tomorrow morning.

We have the exact same expression in English, btw.

Sasha has to beat Novak in straight sets,as his focus has always been questionable to me and Sasha has yet to defeat a Top ten player at GS level.
It's already asking alot for Alex to beat Djoke at a slam, it's even more inconceivable that he would do it in straights.

Margaret and KS, I said 4 sets earlier because Novak's antics (toilet breaks, temper rants and etc) is too much for an young opponent to endure. If you notice, Novak doesn't pull this crap vs Rafa and Roger because he knows the crowd in attendance would crucified his phoney ass.

You know The Young Greek has been going on an on about how Novak took a toilet break, after being down to him 2 sets to love, and then came out a brand new player at RG final, maybe that is the reason we have seen him carry on with toilet break's so consistently ever since.
