I don't think that the new Roger's strategy is going to work well against Isner, he will have to play like his old way if he wants to win, and even that....we'll see
ESPN asked him after his match yesterday if he was going to use the SABR against Isner and he flat out said no, probably not because even Isner's 2nd serve is generally really fast. He'll probably do what he's always done against the big servers - use the pace to block it back, slice to keep it low at Isner's feet so he'll have to volley up. Could be a really close match, could be an upset for Isner, but hopefully the result is the same old, same old. Roger's got a tough draw - probably Berdych if he gets past Isner and then Murray or Stan in the semis.
Meanwhile, Nole, once again, gets the kiddies pool end of the draw going forward. Tsonga (world #18), Cilic (#9 and under-achiever) & Lopez (as old as Roger and #19). Seriously? Still trying to figure out how 2, 3, 5, 6 seeds all ended up in the same half of the draw with only 1, 4 (out in the 1st round), 8 (out in the 3rd round) and 9 in the top half. It's like - why not just write Nole into the final and be done with the top half. Can't see another Fognini-type upset with the 3 guys left his quarter. He's played Cilic 13 times and Cilic has only won 4 sets - 3 of them years (2 at Wimbledon, 1 at the French Open), so the likelihood that he'll string together 3 in one match is pretty slim. Ditto for Tsonga. Tsonga beat him in Toronto last year after Nole hadn't played for about a month but before that he'd lost 9 straight matches winning only 2 sets (French Open in 2012). Lopez is 0-for-5, hasn't played him since 2012 and has only won 1 set in 5 matches. An upset at the hands of from one of these 3 guys would be a miracle.
