Here is the schedule for the US Open:
http://www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/schedule/eventschedule.html?promo=subnav
It starts Monday August 26th, that's when the main draw begins.
Qulifying rounds are already under way!

Melanie just ate a bread stick!

If I am not mistaken, it's free to attend the early qualifying sessions such as today. However the first day of selling tickets is Saturday.
The tickets are sold here:
http://usta.usopen.org/US-Open/tickets/

Individual tickets are still available for all sessions other than the last Saturday and the final day on Moday.

The "Tennis Frontier Correspondent" will definitely make a cameo appearance.
:D

Who else is going?

I'm going next Wed. - Day session. You going, Kiu? I think you're right that qualies are free.

We got tickets on a two-for-one deal because I'm on the mailing list. Use this code: BTMBLAST. They're crappy seats at Ashe, but it gives you access to all other courts. Ours were $37/pp. The grounds pass, I think, is $35 so it's worth it. At least you have the option of seeing a premier match at Ashe, if you want to.

Watching the qualies and was impressed by another young American

Victoria Duval 17 just won her way into the MD 6 - 3 6 - 3.

She has good power on her groundies and good point consruction.

She has a diverse game hitting lobs, dropshots and net game.

Her serve however needs work. 7/9 break points and a good returner

Surely she will do something decent with the hair for that gig. If she wins a lot of money at the Open she can buy some new hair that doens't look dirty.
