The Tournament:

The Hua Hin Championships, currently sponsored by Toyota and called the Toyota Thailand Open, is played on outdoor hard courts. The event is classified as a $250,000 tournament on the WTA Tour.

In 2019, the tournament will make its debut on the women’s professional calendar as an International-level tournament on the WTA Tour. A prior low-level men's and women's Challenger tour event was held in the same location in 2015 and 2017 in November. This WTA Tour tournament will be held in February (following the Australian Open).

About Hua Hin:

Hua Hin District is one of eight districts of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the northern part of the Malay Peninsula in Thailand. Its seat of government, also named Hua Hin, is a beach resort town. The district's population was estimated at 63,091 in December 2017 by the Bureau of Registration Administration in an area of 911 km2. By road, it is 199 km south-southwest of Bangkok.

Hua Hin District is in the middle of what the Thai government is promoting as the "Thai Riviera", the stretch of coastline between Phetchaburi in the north and Chumphon in the south.
