Bernie calls out Nick Kyrgios and says he'll lose all respect for him if he plays the next ATP tour event following the Davis Cup withdrawal.

Tomic also took a pop at Kyrgios after the USA Davis Cup Tie (Loss to Isner) where he claimed Kyrgios' illness was bull***t.

Kyrgios is also embroiled in a Twitter spat with Ben Rothenburg, where he claimed Jon Isner was more like a peanut than an athlete.

I can understand Tomic's frustration as he was clearly in pain while playing. But that's also what you expect in any team event, if one player is not 100%, you expect him to speak out and let someone else plays.
What would have happened if Kyrgios played and lost his two rubbers ? When France lost against Switzerland in 2014, everyone complained against Tsonga who didn't say that he had an elbow injury and played badly.

Hey Bert,

Welcome to the boards mate. I think Tomic was a bit out of order as Kyrgios was clearly feeling it last week, retiring... Hewitt said he tried but failed a fitness test.

I liked Nick's response:

I highly doubt that Bernie will lose all respect for Nick, maybe for a short period of time only. This reminds me a little bit of two young brothers having a fight. Even when not playing Nick gets attention.:lulz2:

i think it's unlikely he'd play IW, people would be all over him if he does. I thought Australia really needed him to have a decent chance against USA.

If I was him and felt OK, I'd play it. Don't know what Bernie's angle was... sounded like he was pissed because he lost to Isner.

The ideal situation would've been that Tomic and Nick played the singles, one of them wins two singles and the other wins one or more. Obviously they'd be huge underdog agains one of the best doubles team in Bryan brothers so had to count on only the singles. Groth was not likely to win both singles, or even one.

I'd probably have played Millman before Groth, but I doubt that it would have made much difference. Hewitt would have had a better chance than both playing singles himself... but he's tipping over a big apple cart if picks himself for singles over the next generation.

Do you think Kyrgios was fit to play? He looked a spent force last week.

True, he should've taken a rest. It was just unfortunate for the Aussies, the Kock is not healthy either.

Not sure that Kyrgios is the kind of guy who cares about what Tomic (or anyone else) thinks :) If he is fit, he will play !

That's something I Iike about Kyrgios... he doesn't really care less (or seem to) about what other people think. He is what he is. I don't think he's a bad lad at all, just his own man and not playing to the gantry.

That's the thing about him, that jab at Wawrinka should be an all time classic (Kokk banged your gf...). Definitely potential to be a modern Connors/Mac, tennis has no risk of personality crisis with guys like him. Sometimes the big 4 are too well spoken!

I rather suspect that Tomic is playing to the gallery. And it's probably working too. What a patriot they'll say

nick is still on the list..so no late withdrawal then..unless its later than late.

its a week after the daviscup, Bernie needs to shut it, what are his medical qualifications anyway ?..zero.
