What a story, what a (personal) inspiration. March 2012 and the girl had enough of being passive. She fires her coach (2 more will be fired later ;)) and starts fighting for her career and her life.
She trains alone on March 2012 and "thinks"... the rest is history!
From ranked 62 on May 2012 to ranked 10 on January 2013.
Those who dare will go far in life..

p.s. - wozi lost today and cant pass Simona in the rankings during the Aus open.
wozi stays on 3370 ranking points.
simo has at least 3570 points.
Only Ivanovic if she gets to the final, can pass Simona but I don't see pigs fly in Melbourne ;)

Simona - sports person of 2013. Amazing story. "from passive to assertive"...
She done it without the lucky draw that Stephens had in Aus 2013. She done it with hard work, dedication, passion and talent (reverse the order).
I am just in  with her. nothing sexual.

The thing to see is will she hold her nerve when things are expected from her. That has been the whole issue with a lot of players. We have seen it before where someone enters the top 10, becomes number 1 in the world without a slam, someone wins her first slam and then they just become a different player. She has everything in her arsenal to be a threat, but she has to keep on the rise and not let expectations get in the way of that.

Thanks for the two posts above :)
I am "very sensitive" about my Simona obsession and I tend to get offended easily about that, lol.

As for Simona's mentality, I think that this is her real force, more than the tennis itself!
She is a tough fighter who stared failure in the eyes for 3 long years. She beat that beast and got success.
Obviously, she has her tennis limits. For example, lack of raw hitting power. Today she had problems in 2nd set with the powerful forehand of Diyas. (I saw the match live)
Only time will tell what she can do or not do.

Welcome to the rest of your life Simo! QF and top ten. What a girl, what a character story.
I could open a new thread after reaching the QF but I do not want to hijack the forum. I think I am already doing it anyway.. :puzzled

May I congrate your babe with her new ranking even if it pushes one of my favourites out of top 10. She's a nice player having the right fighting spirit. Hope all you Simona fans will have a good time with her - well in the forum of course ;)

PS. A little guessing game. I think we all know that USA has most women in top 100 - 11 players - but who has 2nd most ??

Thanks very much for the congrats :)
It cant be Denmark :D Please don't tell me its Romania!
The rest of Romanian girls are just fake if you know what I mean.. I have no clue how Sorana is still ranked 21. Its just her Toronto final which gave her about 600 points. She is losing to anyone ranked above 40 :D

Just checked and if Simo beats Cibu, then she will be ranked 9th in the world, not 10th !
She will pass kerber (4030 points) and will have 4110 points :)
In this case, only if Ana wins the Aus open then Simona goes down to 10th place (Ana will be 9th).
At the moment, I would say that Simo has 80% chance of being 9th in the world after the Aus open!
She can beat Domi and its hard to see Ana winning the event.
Haide Simona! :)

No they are THIRD together with Germany and Italy. They all have 6 players in top 100. Try again:cool:

Nah Denmark has 2 in top 1000 ;) and Romania has got 4 players in top 100 - and of course you know who ? No try again - you don't think it's that country which has 8 players in top 100

The 10th place is safe for Simo now! Ana lost.
Beat Domi and she is 9th in the world.

Tomorrow, 2am Romania time (I am not living there), Rod Laver arena... I shell be there in front of my TV :)
The SF is calling you Simo. The 9th place in the world is calling you too!

Apologies for my behavior (hijacking) but please try and understand. Its almost like a "once in a life time" thing for a fan :) New horizons...

p.s. - Thank god I have this forum as a refuge or I would have gone nuts.
The Internet scene is rotten these days my friends. I see other forums and I just wonder why have the bad/idiots guys took over?... such a shame. I am talking about the admins there.
Tennis has such a nice/clean image, but when you go to other forums you find so many low level posters there roaming free, untouched.

her eyes light up when she is asked about playing tomorrow in the Rod Laver arena :)

Just watched it and was thinking.. she never smiled once during the JJ match, totally focused on the match. It was a dogfight so what "having fun" is she talking about here? - do NOT believe them :)
Pro players just build their psychology for the competition by telling themselves lies, lol.
They cheat themselves to believe that its fun.. They love tennis but the match itself is a war.

a well deserved lose. Simona was not in the match and could not match the energies of Cibu.. until next time.
10th in the world is still good :)
I can calm down now and hope Simona will be ready next time against her.
