An interesting video about the 1981 French Open, as seen from a different angle. What's interesting here is, of course, the tennis, the great players, including a greenhorn Lendl in his first slam final (yeah, would you look at the barnet on him), and of course, the immaculate Borg, unsurpassed in style and substance, a genuine sports icon who transcended the sport like nobody else.

I posted it here because this forum gets most traffic and I think for us fans, it's great to see such tennis history. I appreciate that this is the wrong place and it'll be moved, but if anyone watches it, I hope they enjoy!

It's fine posting that here - we've moved away from splitting historic stuff into a separate forum and it's topical anyway.

I like those type of "fly on the wall" type vids and will watch in full when I get chance.

Have you been on that cheap-avatars.com website again?

This avatar is a touchy-feely thingy. Novak touched the net and Rafa feels it right to point this out. :)

Ha! I saw Virginia Ruzici (Romania) playing Chrissie! Hers was the first autograph I ever got as a little kid... it was when the Virginia Slims was being played at the Palestra in Philadelphia. Good memories. Now she's overseeing Simona Halep's career.

I think it was after seeing a title winning match by Virginia that Richard Williams decided
that he wanted to bring up his girls (unborn at that time) as tennis champions (even
though he has no clue about tennis at that time) according to his recent book.

If we are talking history here, Seven years ago in the Hamburg final, Roger Federer snapped Rafael Nadal’s men’s-record 81-match win streak on clay and handed him a rare bagel on any surface in a 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 win. I would like to see the video of that third set. Can someone post in the vault and send a
pm to me. Thanks to the unnamed player (oops, poster) who will do so.
