it would be so nice to see one of the always highly talented and fascinating tennis stylists of france to win a MEN’S championship also in majors. don’t you think?

such a rich treasure of variety and very individualistic styles of playing among them …it would be great to see any of them win a major soon.

I HAVE been waiting so long for perhaps TSONGA to finally bag one for himself – MONFILS if he just really can keep consistent – so many of them really can produce such amazing tennis …just that consistency for SEVEN matches which is so hard to build…

It’s a great tennis program, French, they have so many good players. With only a handful players winning majors in the last decade, it is hard for anybody to get through, but it is unfortunate that none of the French players managed to break through or get a bit lucky to win one. I like all current French players, and Noah was one of my favourites of the past ones.

one important thing for them is – the 2 majors by amelie – followed by marion – are PROOF to the rest of the french they can develop greater consistency , focus throughout the seven matches. but the guys do need to step up since it’s in the men’s side that the talent pool consistently seems to be of such high calibre, imo.

the french players are really fascinating to watch..when they play you can’t take your eyes of them . we’ve gotten used to their tendency to be so brilliant one day – and then ,,,,oops where it go the next day? – BUT – match for match – they are worth the watch. of the girls i really the one that won the davis ? VERY very talented, imo. and i have a feeling SHE will win in the majors.
of the men — i am SO frustrated with tsonga and monfils and benoit paire and of course gasquet …..unbelievable talents, really..it’s a crime that they haven’t raised majors yet. i also really liked escude in his time..and if sampras wasn’t too good that day years ago — pioline certainly deserved to be a us open champ too.

I used to like Leconte and Noah back in the day. More recently Tsonga, and I always loved the Gasquet backhand.

it’s a wonder, really…since the french training system – and its development program seems to be just about the best there is. isn’t it? great coaches, training, and promotion of the sport which is – about as french as anything you can imagine. AND the players they do develop are truly amazing talents. but in the end – it is still up to the player during matches. and tennis requires several matches to win titles — and then repeat the process year by year. STILL — one of these years a french MAN will also join Amelie and Bartoli among modern era Majors champs. there are just too many fine players from france NOT to eventually achieve that. i was so sad when that ‘longest match ever” in wimbledon went isner’s way. i mean he’s a fearsome player with those serves…but it’s like a WASTE of space, time and effort for other players – only to be dashed. i honestly wanted the french guy to win and maybe even at least reach semis or finals or even win – even thought that long stretch was too much for anyone proably to recover.

He’ll take on Nadal next. How has Tsonga played so far in the tournament, Isabelle? I wasn’t able to watch his matches as they were too early for me.

isabelle - Viva la France! in the Rugby World Cup Quarter Finals v All Blacks. I’m hoping we (Wales) beat the Springboks and don’t want to face New Zealand in the semis!
