I am on my deathbed, my fellow TF-ers.
I know that most of you have seen the Facebook post, and have read it, so this won't be news to you, but I feel this deserves its own thread. Roger has put this painful, cancerous 2016 season to an end. What else do Fed fans have to live through? What's next?
Also, he currently has 2130 points. That would leave him around the 15-18 ranking I think, assuming he starts the 2017 at all.

Kill me....
I love how he took shots at all the pushers on tour in his Fb post, such a great guy.

Roger has won at least one title each year beginning in 2001 and ending in 2015 leading to a 15 year stretch and this is the current record in this regard. Unfortunately, as he has called it a season and as he has not won a title this year so far, this streak comes to an end.

Among the active players, Rafa has an active streak of 13 (including 2016) and both Novak and Andy have active streaks of 11 (including 2016).

This record of Federer might also bite the dust.

Going by last year's data, Fed's current total of 2130 should give him a ranking of 16 at the beginning of next year. Also, given that he is playing in Hopman cup and not Brisbane, another 150 points will come down (before the AO seeds are determined) and this will make his total 1980. This will give him a seeding somewhere between 17 and 24 at the Australian Open 2017. :cry

Well here's the silver lining: he says that he wants to play a few more years. Maybe the R&R for the next five months will give him a boost in 2017 and he'll win a few more titles, maybe even be competitive at Wimbledon and the US Open next year (at 35-36!).

But yeah, it is sad - but I'm glad he's being cautious, which furthers the notion that he wants to play for a few more years.

As for the thread title, maybe a tad hyperbolic? I hear you, but the game changes. Who knows what sort of brand of tennis future greats will play, how the courts will change, how technology will impact the sport. Hang in there, PM.

He will always be the GOAT in my eyes no matter how many of his records get broken. Federer is sorely missed. I am not sure how much tennis I will even watch during his absence and after his retirement. So sad.

If tennis is competitive art, he's the GOAT - or at least since Rod Laver. If it is war, he's got competition.
