1st round results Vera Zvonereva beats Wang Qiang, 6-2, 6-2, Romina Oprandi upsets Elena Vesnina 6-3, 6-3, as this Russian continues to falter. Couple of other winners include: Monica Puig and Evgeniya Rodina

Apparently #2 seed Svitolina has withdrawn from this event, replaced by lucky loser Yuliya Beygelzimer of Ukraine, who beat Kimiko Date-Krumm in a tough 3 setter.
The bottom of draw is wide open.
#3 seed Zarina Diyas lost to Daniela Hantuchova, a two time former champion here.

Top seed advanced without much fuss.

The bottom of draw only has one seeded player left after the first round, that would be Zhang Shuai of China, the number 8 seed.
Only 3 players left that are ranked 50 or higher in the entire draw.

A. TOMLJANOVIC defeated M. PUIG 7-6(4) 5-7 7-6(7)
D. HANTUCHOVA defeated M. ERAKOVIC 4-6 6-3 7-6(3)

Both matches went the distance and took over 2 1/2 hours. Monica was the last seed left.

Daniela Hantuchova came back from a set down to defeat Ajla Tomljanovic 36 63 64 and become the first player to win this tournament three times,winning in 2011 and 2012.This is her sixth career title.

Long time between the 5th and 6th title for Daniela, good to see, she definitely enjoys this tournament.
