They compared tennis to a bunch of other sports and I think net net they're saying the #32 player shouldn't be as far away (in income) as the #1 player as it currently is in tennis.
But then when you look at the talent levels, I mean Sharapova vs. Casey Dellacqua? Pova makes more because she goes deeper into tournaments. I think it's an incentive for the lower-ranked players to play better, learn, go deeper and as a consequence make more money.
Halep was ranked what at this time last year, probably making no money and she worked her way up by being consistent and winning and now she's at #2 making way more money.
It's even more marked on the men's side Nole vs. Verdasco or something....come on. You never know which Verdasco is going to show up and I think as a result, he should be paid thus.
