About Istanbul:

Istanbul, historically also known as Constantinople and Byzantium, is the most populous city in Turkey and the country's economic, cultural, and historic center. Istanbul is a transcontinental city in Eurasia, straddling the Bosphorus strait between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. Its commercial and historical center lies on the European side and about a third of its population lives on the Asian side. The city is the administrative center of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, both hosting a population of around 14 million residents. Istanbul is one of the world's most populous cities and ranks as the world's 7th-largest city proper and the largest European city.

Approximately 12.56 million foreign visitors arrived in Istanbul in 2015, five years after it was named a European Capital of Culture, making the city the world's fifth most popular tourist destination. The city's biggest attraction is its historic center, partially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its cultural and entertainment hub can be found across the city's natural harbor, the Golden Horn, in the Beyoglu district. Considered a global city, Istanbul has one of the fastest-growing metropolitan economies in the world. It hosts the headquarters of many Turkish companies and media outlets and accounts for more than a quarter of the country's gross domestic product.

Cilic should be embarrassed if he doesn't take this one.

Home sweet home...One of these days I will catch this tournament. Not this time though. Heading back there June 25th.
I will eat till I faint. I miss the food so much.
Oh, I do love Turkish food! Those kufkas or whatever they're called? We have a Turkish friend that does a cook-out every June. I eat WAY past the point of hungry. I skip dessert, and just eat more of those delicious little meat morsels.

I am not a fan of using the term choke but if there a typical example, here just happened one.
Dutra-Sukva was leading Taro Daniel in their 3 set with 4-0, then he managed to lose the next 6 consecutive 6 games and the match.

Dutra Silva. He had also a game point while serving to go up 5-0. Probably cold feet as it would be his first ATP semi.

Jeez. Poor guy. How many more chances could he get, as he is a veteran.

The field here was already the weakest, now there are no seeds left in the semis.
Highest ranked is Jaziri.
Land of opportunity.

Last week the women played there, this week the men. Whenever I look into the stands all I see is empty blue seats. Attendance is a little better today, but overall how is this tourney making any $$?

There should be a scheme of awarding all unsold seats for free to interested folks on the day of the matches. Folks will be happy and it won't be an eye sore in TV broadcasts. Why can't they implement such a scheme? What do they lose?

p.s. This is the only tourney with a non-local winner among all the itsy-bitsy tourneys of this week.

This is a good idea. You might even make some new tennis fans and next time they'd pay for a ticket.

Anyway, Daniel won. Nice job by him.

Yeah, in a few weeks we will see your idol as well playing an itsy-bitsy tournament in Stuttgart.
