About Sydney

Sydney, capital of New South Wales and Australia's largest city, is best known for its harbourfront Sydney Opera House, with a distinctive sail-like design.

Massive Darling Harbour and the smaller Circular Quay port are hubs of waterside life, with the arched Harbour Bridge and esteemed Royal Botanic Garden nearby. Sydney Tower’s outdoor platform, the Skywalk, offers 360-degree views of the city and suburbs.

Tourism Guide:

Fun Facts About Sydney

1. Sydney was going to be called Albion until it was decided that Sydney, after British Lord Sydney, was more appropriate.

2. Sydney Opera House exceeded its projected construction budget by over fourteen times and was completed ten years behind schedule.

3. Sydney accounts for over a quarter of Australia’s total economic activity.

4. The Sydney Funnel-web spider has fangs larger than a brown snake’s fangs. They are large enough to penetrate human toe and fingernails easily. Human death has also been known to occur within 15 minutes of its bite

5. An order for extra 20,000 condoms had to be placed after running out of the initial 70,000 during the 2000 Sydney Olympic games for the athletes. Since then, an order of 100,000 condoms is the norm.

Limited action in Sydney on Tuesday due to heavy rainstorms.

Angelique Kerber d. Camila Giorgi 7-6 (7-3) 6-2
Ash Barty d. Jelena Ostapenko 6-3 6-3
Petra Kvitova d. Aryna Sabalenka 6-1, 7-5
Sloane Stephens d. Ekaterina Alexandrova 0/6 7/6 7/6

Ostapenko and her coach appeared to fall out after the first set with her coach seemingly telling her: "If it keeps going like this then i will go." Commentators then noted he did not resume his seat in the player's box.

Well she is stinking up the court for awhile now. And Slaone ate a bagel and rebounded to win. Strange match. Simona will play Ash tonight.
